These are just what I need to measure some short spans outside. A word of caution, though - These are stamped and have VERY SHARP edges! I took a couple of minutes and filed/sanded down the edges to avoid cutting myself. I'm not going to take any Stars off my review because if they had done this at the factory, it would have increased the price, and it's simple enough to do on your own. The other issue is that they are clamped too tight (mine were, anyway) and they are hard to adjust incrementally in very small degrees. They either don't move at all, or jump after too much pressure is applied. I'm trying to wear them in to move smoothly, but haven't had too much success so far. Again, for the cost of these, I'm still very pleased.
