MR77 Review
Review of the MR77: I use this instrument professionally and debated on it and a few other moisture meters. Our office utilized Delmhorst and Protimeter moisture meters, so was able to compare this model with those. I have been using this instrument for moisture mapping for about a month at the time of this review.Pros:1. Very good build quality. The instrument feels very solid in the hand and feels high quality.2. Measurements (relative humidity, temperature, scanning moisture, direct reading moisture) all appear very accurate in multiple situations. No lab quality testing but am able to compare to other instruments.3. Can confirm device functions with Flir tools app on iOS.4. Condensation function of this device very helpful.5. The MR77 uses a 9volt battery and battery life is amazing. I also use a FlirONE for thermal, so the other newer moisture meters from Flir were less appealing. Note we also use numerous Fluke IR cameras for moisture mapping.6. Price is actually a plus. This is a well made professional device that combines many meters in one device.Cons:1. iOS Flir Tools app needs some work and crashes often for me and other investigators. Not a con on the device.2. Compared to other manufacturers, FLIR does not specify what is considered dry, borderline, and wet. The flexibility allows the user to set alarms for those readings. However, in professional work it is often helpful for the manufacturer to offer guidance on that for most materials so this can be quoted in reports as backup to inspector interpretation. While I understand the decision from Flir, it would be difficult to adopt this device without the ability to cross reference the Flir MR77 readings against other moisture meter readings.Summary, great device.

Professional grade moisture meter, plus IR camera, plus wood tester.
Purchased this after a fire in the apartment above mine and subsequent water damage. I needed to be able to test for moisture in the walls in order to work out what was wet and hence what would need to be dried out and where there might later be mold growth. This is a professional grade tool which the remediation expert (the people called in by the insurance company to check for water damage and then deal with it) noted was as good as the tool he used. It's well built, comes with a decent warranty and did the job I needed reliably.I was initially a little confused as to how to use it. In reading the manual again now, I realize that I only scratched the surface of what it can do. I had no idea that it has a thermal camera built in!!?! It also has an external pin probe attachment for measuring below the surface of wood and other softer materials, possibly where temperature is an issue.I would strongly recommend taking the ten minutes necessary to read the manual in order to get the most out of this product, BEFORE you use it. This will save you a bunch of dicking around and give you accurate results straight out of the gate.I have no idea how well this holds up to the kinds of professional moisture meters a professional carpenter would use, but given that this costs the same as a basic IR thermal camera, but has much more accurate surface measurement equipment, AND it will test different types of lumber as well , all for the price of a cheap thermal camera, it really can't be beaten. Highly recommended!

Definitely a let down
From everything I've known flir is supposed to be the who's who of thermal imaging and test and diagnostic equipment.I guess you have to get into the thousand dollar plus range to get a thermal image that's discernable from flir, because let me tell you I've watched scrambled static HBO porn when I was a kid that had a better picture than this thing. Absolutely can't tell what anything is and the color that's supposed to indicate moisture Is just on random objects but also very static looking. On the moisture meter side it's ok'ish. I mean it can kinda get you close to a maybe accurate reading but for $700.00 I want to be with in +- 1% on multiple material options.I'll be straight up honest and tell you right now I wanted to love this thing but its a $700.00 kinda works moisture probe. My cheap Home Depot moisture probe that cost me $40.00 does a way better and much more accurate job then this thing. Then the worst part I've returned it and they're telling me it's going to be a minimum of 30 days before they'll issue a refund and an additional 5-7 days to show up in my account. What a joke .Giving it an extra star because it does feel solid and well built but that's about it.

Does a reasonably good job of being a moisture meter
I purchased this as a moisture meter with the added feature of having a visual aid. Does a reasonably good job of being a moisture meter, plus it has a pin probe that connects to the bottom. Opening the package there is a dearth of helpful information, though, and I soon discovered that I had a pre-Oct 2015 version that needed a firmware update. I was missing the palette choice, delete option for captured images, and other advertised features. Also, you need to dive into the root software for the basic operating instructions (hook up the meter to a computer and read what's on the unit). This is the only place you'll find the list of wood species by Group number. Really all very non-intuitive.Finally, when updating the firmware you must use a PC (Windows) computer rather than Mac, otherwise it won't take. The unit is nice and robust, and has a lot of clever features. Just get the firmware update and it will work ok.

Calibration service not available in the UK.
I purchased this MR60 meter a year ago and it is now due for calibration. I contacted Flir Tech support only to be told they do not have a facility in the UK for this service, I was told to contact a third party calibration lab, I contacted three labs and they all replied with the same answer, they could not calibrate this meter as Flir would not disclose the procedure and the specs, also i eventually found out the meter I received was 4 years old. So now I’m left with a meter I cannot trust and £360 out of pocket.

No Repair available unless you send to America.
After the guarantee runs out you cannot get a repair anywhere in Europe and can only be repaired if sent back to America. This is incredible!DO NOT BUY THIS METERI have two now that require repair so basically useless if they develop a fault.

Display inutile e poco attendibile
