Solid Set of Speakers
As long as you are not an Audiophile these will suit you just fine considering their price as a key driver, loud enough and bassy enough for gaming and general music listening in my garage.

Excellent speakers for the money
I recently bought these from another retailer, but wanted to come leave a review as there's so few on here.Overall these are the same set as the R1850DB, so all the reviews on that product carry over. The only two (and very worthwhile) changes are the fact the Bluetooth is now v5.0 and there is an improved remote.I think the new remote alone is worth a small premium, BT 5.0 carries more data, so in theory should mean better bitrates are possible. The speakers themselves are exceptional for the price. Nice crisp treble, warm bass, not muddy, excellent mids.Depending on what music you listen to, you may want to use the subwoofer out to really bump the bass. They do a great job on the bass, but they are subtly geared more towards the mids and highs. Most people will be more than happy with these, and the subwoofer option is there.I suggest you listen to a YouTube comparison videos with some headphones.I am 10/10 happy with them, great sound, will not be adding a subwoofer.

Excellent!!!!
I was originally suppose to buy the R2000db but opted for these as it's the latest model and bluetooth is 5.0 with improved remote. Well what can i say? They are fantastic, so clear and powerful even at 70w. And actually looking back at a comparison test between these and the R2000db, these R1855db have a much more beautiful soundstage, so clear and they don't distort or muffle when turned up and yes the R2000db is louder with more bass but these can pack a punch. Very happy with them. Highly recommended

Great pair of bookshelf speakers.. shame about the remote
Bought these instead of a soundbar for a bedroom TV and I'm really impressed by the sound quality & bass you get from them. They come with all the cables you need to hook them up to practically anything.. in my case I'm using the supplied optical cable with a Samsung T5300 TV and it's been great.. the only setting you might need to change on the TV is switching the output to PCM (that's what the speakers support).. otherwise I didn't get any sound. You get a fairly poor remote control which feels very fragile/flimsy, plus it's quite directional. I assumed I'd be able to control the speakers from my Fire TV remote, but this model isn't in the Amazon database.. I tried all the other Edifier models without any luck.. so in the end I built a small IR code translator; you can build one yourself if you look for 'irtranslator r1855db'.It's a bit of a shame the controls for the bass + treble are round the back of the speakers & there are no buttons for them on the remote, but it is what it is, and once you've got the settings you want, I guess there's little need to change them.Power usage is low when they're on & in a kind of active standby; about 3w (when there's no audio signal but the speakers are on).. then about 1-2w when you turn them off using the remote.Build quality of the speakers is solid (it's just the remote that lets them down), and feels/looks like a quality product.Overall, I can certainly recommend these speakers, as long as you bear in mind the points I made above about the remote control. I'm very happy with the speakers now I can control them from my Fire TV remote & can ditch the remote that came with them.

Capable affordable speakers
These speakers provide good highs and mids with decent bass. If you want low frequency response below ~50hz you will have to add a subwoofer, luckily this is easy.I did have a problem with my left speaker. With bass heavy songs there was a little rattle in the speaker. Instead of sending it back I had a quick look inside via the 4 front screws that loosened the 4" driver. Once I had the speaker removed I noticed some hot glue that formed a long string with a blob at the end. Unfortunately this blob was perfectly positioned to touch the driver cone whenever there was bass. The fix was super easy, just remove the hot glue. QC was suppose to catch this, but I guess it slipped through. In all other respects the speaker system is quality and worth the money.
