Fire TV Cube, Certified Refurbished | Hands free with Alexa, 4K Ultra HD streaming media player

I already have 4 alexas in the house, the echt dot, the echo plus, the echo show, and the fire tv stick. So I thought I’ll try this one as well to see how it compares and I was blown away! The integration with the TV surpassed the fire tv stick by a mile! The voice recognition is just like any echo product, but the TV features are way better because it can also turn your tv on and off. When the tv is off you can say “alexa play this (show name) on Netflix, and it will turn the tv on, open Netflix and continue the tv show where you left of. It’s also way more responsive than my fire tv stick. I find it navigates much better, it plays any 4k video smoothly and instantly without jittering (unlike the fire tv stick which struggles with 4k stuff sometimes). This is thanks to the faster processor built in it. The built in speaker is also surprisingly good. Not as good as the echo plus, but certainly better than the echo dot and comparable to the echo show. Definitely money well spent. Btw it has a 12gb memory, so plenty of space for games, etc. Also it comes with a Infrareds transmitter extension, but I didn’t need it. It works just fine without it. I use it in my bedroom and the remote works fine with the tv. It can even turn the tv volume up/down/mute with the tv cube remote. I ordered the certified refurbished one and it was literally like new. I couldn’t tell, because it came with the official seal, etc. If you’re thinking of getting an echo or fire stick, get this one, because you get both in one! Btw when the tv is on and you ask it about weather stuff it will display extra weather info on the tv, so it uses your tv like a screen, just like the echo show. Excellent product. I already recommended it to all my friends!

Setting up was easy out of the box. Instructions came on the screen, but if you want it to control your TV, but accessories in first. After that you can voice control your TV, switching it on and off and adjusting volume. It is vast improvement over 4K Firestick.

purchased this direct from amazon it's a refurbished unit although you would never know, it came in a plain black box perfectly packed the cube itself was wrapped in protective plastic i expected there to be a few marks on it but no i honestly would not have known it was a refurbished unit it works perfectly on our main tv we are slowly converting the house to alexa but it takes time as things can be expensive but all i can say if you are interested in the cube don't be put off by purchasing a refurb you can save yourself a few quid and if you have any problem you can still send it back like you would anything else on Amazon my advice go for it!

I upgraded from a standard non HD fire stick and was also a replacement for my echo dot in the same room. This is better - but not by much.I used to like listening to music on my dot. The Cube does this, but has to to play it through the TV. By the time the TV is on I miss 14 seconds of the song. Its annoying.I thought that the voice control would be better. It can turn the TV on by voice, but I usually then find myself getting the control to select what I want. The rest of the controls are quite clunky and I find it far easier and quicker using a control. You can't really control much using voice alone.Some of the Alexa responses seem to come out of the cube, where as other do so from the TV. This is also annoying as the volume is inconsistent. The speaker is also better on my 2nd generation dot.I think the unit has potential and I'm sure the next generation devices will be better.

So I've put off being one of these for a while thinking it was not worth the extra money over a fire stick which I had previously. However this works so much better I shouldn't have worried. Integration with existing Hue, Hive and Ring devices is first class along with control over my sound bar. I can't fault the picture quality at all and I would recommend it to any one. Particular the refurbished one as I couldn't tell the difference from a new one.

Overall I’m happy with my purchase, I have plenty of apps and it works perfectly. I haven’t try the voice recognition so cannot comment on that

I brought a refurbished one like new. It was a nightmare to pair the remote numerous button presses six resets I almost gave up then it worked. I can see why some people might find it hard and return it.

Bought the fire cube on recommendation from a friend, but remote stopped working after two weeks. He has had a similar issue with his (bought from a different supplier).
