It works well on through-hole soldered parts and surface mount parts.
I found it to be very useful when removing ICs and components from a multi-layer circuit board. It works well on through-hole soldered parts and surface mount parts.

Desoldering MAGIC
The media could not be loaded. I went from toasted boards, burnt components, and peeled pads, to nearly (nearly!!) flawless component removal. With my iron set to 450f, the alloy tended to stiffen before it was fully removed, so I did bend two pins on the larger components (which were tiny, but larger than my initial tests). Maybe 500f would be sufficent for larger items? At any rate, it works miracles if you have a temperature controlled iron, allowing you to avoid unecessarily high temps. Flux the connections, melt the alloy on the iron and massage it in. In just a minute or two, the solder joints will soften and the components can be removed. You will need a lot of desoldering braid too, if you want to reuse the components, as it must be removed lest it spoil your solder joints moving forward.I highly recommend this kit and ChipQuik fluxes!

Godsend to help remove SMD chips!
Wanna know what they use in those YT videos that shows how someone can wet the chip connections on all four sides with a simple soldering iron and then lift the chip off the board so quickly? This is it. The eutectic alloy additive lowers the melting temperature of the solder keeping it wetter longer with lower heat. This makes it easier and less stressful on the board and pads when removing SMD chips with side pin leads or contact pads. Surprising a little can go a long way and leftover slag can be reused to help de-solder other chips. Cleaning is also generally easier as well.

Works well but need more per package
This really helps remove chips at a low temperature without overheating or lifting circuit traces.Problem is, you may run out of the alloy quickly. I think they should give you more for your money. I had to purchase a second kit.

Works like a champ for desoldering
This product works wonderfully when used according to the instructions. By lowering the melting point of the solder many types of parts are easily removed without special equipment. Then clean up the board and you can easily solder new parts back onto the board. The paste flux provided is wonderful and the board cleans up nicely after the faulty part is removed.

Hard to work with, but the best for the price..
It has never failed to work, or get me out of a pinch.. Stop burning SMD components and get a helping hand with this stuff..Use as little heat as possible.. it'll make it easier to work with and get into the small HDMI port legs etc.Only use as much heat as needed, and work this stuff into the old solder and it'll make removing any SMD part a breeze. The included flux, was good enough I wanna try a full syringe of it now, and see how it comapres to the very expensive Stirri I use. Chip Quick, is uickly becoming a dominant force in products when it comes to repair specialized tools, equipment and supplies, and honestly if they continue to keep up the great quality, and keep prices fair they will become the "Go To" for technician and repair supplies. -Neptune_Labs

Like magic
Makes delicate chip removal trivially easy. No more mangled PCB traces

Magical desoldering tool!
This stuff allowed me to rescue a surface mounted PCB from another one. It worked great, and took less than 10 minutes to do.
