Captain Planet Foundation’s EcoSTEM ENERGY Kit How can we produce renewable energy that it is as efficient and cost-effective as possible? The power is yours! Captain Planet Foundation’s EcoSTEM ENERGY Kit will engage 3rd to 12th grade students in inquiry investigations, making and demonstrating concepts with models, collecting data for a citizen science project, designing solutions for an engineering challenge, and implementing an environmental stewardship project. The EcoSTEM ENERGY Kit provides opportunities for students to: explore series and parallel circuits by wiring renewable energy devices using Elenco’s Snap Circuit Green Alternative Energy kits (2); design, build, test and modify renewable energy prototypes, using these invention kits: o PicoTurbine’s SkyZ Wind Turbine (2); o SkyZ Solar Panel (2); o SkyZ Hydro-Basic Water Wheel Invention Kits (2); o with 7-function Multimeters for testing and comparing electrical outputs (6) make New Vision Renewable Energy’s Whole Room Solar Light and conduct experiments with it before shipping it to a community without power, where students there will also receive an unassembled kit and learn how to make a solar light, themselves; engage in standards-based learning experiences in “three-dimensional science” for which details are provided on a special Captain Planet Foundation web page.
