I love the Dark Pictures Anthology games!!!
I love the dark pictures anthology games. I have them all and have played them all repeatedly. Until Dawn, Man of Maiden, Little Hope, House of Ashes, The Quarrie, The devil in me, they're all fantastic! This particular one was one of my favorite stories to play through. Not only do I own this but after I finished it I had to go purchase this game for my hubby as well as my best friend so we could all enjoy it together. I highly recommend it. Especially if you want a change of pace for yourself as far as a new kick back gaming style. It's almost like being a part of a interactive movie where you control the characters, there choices, relationships, and each thing you choose for them effects the outcome of the game/ storyline. I read each playthrough will be different and there are a 100 different endings. Every time I play though is different. Give it a try! You won't regret it.

Great game, fun with multiplayer and playing with friends for a movie night.
Plays like a movie which is great with friends as it's multiplayer and get scared together. I enjoy the whole series. Playing this on the Xbox Series X in 4k is amazing.

More of a movie, kinda a game
First off this was great...I loved it. Took me a little bit to get into it, but once I did I was all in. This is not a regular gaming experience by any means. Not having played the others in series, I really didn't know much about it. Yeah I read reviews, but didn't watch any gameplay vids or anything. This is a laid back chill experience, with an amazing story. Characters were great, and some I liked, others I didn't, but I think that's the kinda the point. In fact I purposely let one die, and tried to make sure others survived.I'd often get so caught up in the scene that I'd have to quickly react by grabbing the controller and spamming the designated button. When in control on the characters the controls felt sluggish, but I got used to it, and it didn't really hurt the experience.Liked it enough to buy the previous ones, and looking forward to watching/playing those as well when they get here.I will definitely replay this story though later on down the line.

Another great entry in the Dark Pictures series
I've enjoyed all of the games in the Dark Pictures series so far, and this newest release is no exception. Like the others, it's clearly made by people with a love for and understanding of the horror genre, and tells a chilling story better than many of the other horror games on the market. Also like the others, there are things I do and don't like about the game. From the beginning, I've said that I'm not the biggest fan of the games' controls in this series. The third person camera angles can get difficult to control, particularly as your character moves through tight spaces (and being horror games, they're full of tight spaces), and the use of quick time events to resolve a variety of conflicts isn't my favorite mechanism in the world. That said, though this installment uses the same type of controls, I actually think it did better with them overall than the previous versions. Still not perfect (and in fact, there were a couple scenes with particularly tight spaces in which the camera angles and movement controls were particularly annoying, though fortunately these didn't occur in combat scenarios where quick reflexes make the difference), but I didn't mind them as much as I have before. Either I'm getting used to the series or they've made small improvements that I can't quite put my finger on.But while the controls aren't my favorite, the storytelling format is actually among the best I've seen. For one thing, unlike many games in which a character death just means you go back to a save point and try again, in these games dead is dead, and you are by no means guaranteed to save all (or even any) of your playable characters. Because the characters are also well-written and well-performed, this raises the emotional stakes of the game and makes it quite a thrilling adventure, especially since the plot can take multiple pathways, and you never quite know how your decisions throughout the game might affect the ultimate outcome. All of these games have excellent plots, and if you've played the previous two games in the series, you know that not everything is always as it seems in these stories, which will keep you on your toes. In terms of the plot of House of Ashes specifically, I quite liked the setup and the first half to three quarters of the game. Unfortunately in this case, when the plot does take a turn, it veers off into a direction I found a little too predictable and not quite as satisfying as the previous games in the series.None of that is to suggest that the game's flaws ruin the experience. On the contrary, I found it still to be quite the enjoyable game, with a few scenes that were tense even for a jaded horror veteran like myself. It just doesn't quite reach the level of perfection. But if you like a good horror game, you're unlikely to be disappointed here.

Scary at times but I loved it
This game had it all , The storyline was really well put together & the game was action pack. I love games where you can choose your way throughout the story and this was that game , I wasn't aware that there was a Dark Pictures Game set with 4 games , I recently purchased the other 3 games already. Now about the characters , My favorite character in this game was Rachel and I think it's mostly because shes voiced by Ashley Tisdale & I'm a fan of that actress. You have the control to have 5 characters make it to the end and survive , in the end of the game only two survivors made it which were Rachel & Nick. All of the other characters die in the first time I played it , I will be playing it again to see if I can get the rest of them to all survive. I think the game gave me The Descent vibes and that horror movie was badass.
