Herbert's Wormhole (Herbert's Wormhole, 1)

This was my first shot at holding my active boy's attention for multiple-night readings of a chapter book. Success! He's six years old and loved the story. He was able to follow the story over the course of the week we read it. I nice mix of mostly short chapter lengths kept my little reader feeling like he was accomplishing something as we progressed. He identified with the characters and retained lots of fun details night to night...many of which he relayed to friends and family. The plot moves fast and never bogs down. The whole story is very imaginative, creative, and refreshing. Definitely recommend to any parent who reads to their young children before bed and is looking to introduce chapter books.

I have a 9-year-old boy and he absolutely loved this book. Truth be told, I loved it, too. It's funny, creative and completely unpredictable. My son's taste ranges from Captain Underpants (more vulgar than this) to Harry Potter (more serious than this). He stayed up late this past weekend to finish the book - he even set aside his latest Harry Potter to focus on this. He's not a big reader, so I'm always thrilled to find something he'll like. And if it's something I like, too, so much the better. I'd highly recommend this book for anyone with a boy or an adventurous girl - even reluctant readers will enjoy. Sequel?? Please tell me one is in the works...

I am down on my knees filled with gratitude to author Peter Nelson. My son, aged 10, has been an extremely reluctant reader. We have reading time every night since he has been born- all of us have loved to read save Alex...That is,until Herbert's Wormhole. Now instead of dreading reading hour-he is reading at all times of the day! He LOVES this book. In the past, his teachers, the librarians, friends, siblings, his father and I have tried to interest him in hundreds of amazing books to no avail- until Herbert's Wormhole. The only downside to the book is that there is no sequel yet....Hurry! Please....I beg you!

We bought this book for our second-grade grandson for Christmas. He's a devoted computer gamer, so the book was perfect for his interests. Grandpa read it with him each night before bed. They both liked the book, but some of the vocabulary was difficult for a second grade reader.

What a perfect series for a kid who isn't little, but not yet ready for teen books. Well done!

I read it many years ago and it was a solid story, but not an amazing story. So I give it a solid 4 stars.

I would recommend this book for all to read. Adults and childrenalike. It was an adorable story with a great ending!The writer made it an easy read for children.Great story!
