I had to buy this when switching from a Lenovo laptop with built-in RJ45 ethernet to a Dell laptop which does not have built-in RJ45 ethernet. For the first couple of weeks, I was plagued by random disconnects and tried to be patient with troubleshooting since I had nothing to compare to (everything in the experiment had changed - new laptop, new ethernet adapter, etc).Then I decided to try something different. Everything sat on my desk, with the power-brick of the Dell situated right next to the ethernet adapter. On a hunch that the ethernet adapter might not have any shielding inside its housing, I moved the power-brick about 2 feet away. Ever since then, there have been no disconnects, and is rock solid.I am glad I did not return it. It would be helpful if the instructions included a warning about this specific (and more likely) scenario as opposed to the generic FCC statement about interference and reorientation.

For others out there that may be doing the same thing, this adapter worked perfectly with my Sony A80J TV. The TV only has a 100 Mbps nic, but after using this adapter in the USB 3.0 port on the TV (make sure you use the BLUE colored port), I'm getting over 800 Mbps. Not all adapter chipsets are compatible with Sony TV's, but this one is.

Needed it for a laptop that has a screwed up ethernet port, but it's a locked-down computer so I can't work on it. This did the trick perfectly, no drivers needed. And the price was right too.
