Ashman Garden Landscape Staples - Good Value
Pros:- Low Price per Staple.- Fast Delivery.- Many uses in the garden.- Works in soils that are somewhat loosened.- Volume discount offered. The more you buy, the lower the price per staple.- Within the known limitations of the product, this brand works as good, or better than the comptetitive offerings on Amazon.com at a lower price point.Cons:- Staples are not very sharp so difficult to penetrate commercial landscape fabrics.- Galvanizing on staples is not very thick so questionable longevity without rusting. Good enough for most purposes.- Staples are 11 gauge and not stiff enough to penetrate heavy clay soils, soils with some aggregate content, or heavy landscape fabric. In those, the staples bend or just will not penetrate far.I needed a bulk purchase of these landscape staples and the Ashman Garden Landscape Staples were the best price offering in the 1000 staple range. They offer a better price/staple when ordering 5000 staples but that quantity was more than I would use in a couple years. I have purchased and used these 11 guage staples from several different vendors and this Ashman brand is equivalent, or better than almost all the other 11 guage staples I have tried. I mainly use these staples for staking/holding up new iris rhizomes so the don't fall over, stabilizing new plantings in loosened soil, staking down garden fencing to prevent animal pests from getting into garden areas, staking down landscape fabric for weed and soil erosion control and staking down tarps, cloths, or plastic in outside applications where the material might blow away in the wind or bunched up and cause hazards during a job (painting tarps, tarps over construction materials, tarps over wood piles, etc.). For most applications where the soil is loosened and the staples do not have a lot of pulling up force on them, these work fine. The areas where these staples do not work the best are where the soil is compacted clay; where the topsoil has been removed leaving a dense, undisturbed subsoil; rocky soils; and where there is a dense/tightly woven cloth that is difficult to penetrate. These Ashman Landscape staple are not really sharp at the end and do not want to penetrate tougher fabrics/materials. If the company would have sheared the ends of f a more of an angle during manufacture, it would have created a sharper end that was easier to use with no higher cost to the manufacturer.Because these Ashman Landscape staples are not that sharp and are the standard 11 guage, they have a tendency to bend in rocky or dense soil substrates. There are other landscape staples available which are thicker (8 guage) and are more robust. Those cost more so I only use them when these Ashman staples will not work. The final thing to be aware of is that these 6 inch long 11 guage landscape staples do not work that good for applications where there is force on the staple to pull it out of the ground or cross force on the staple. Examples of this are using string/cable/rope to hold down a tarp against wind; using a rope/cable to straighten a tree; or, anchor point for a suspended weight. In those cases, the staple is often too short and thin with insufficient surface area to hold the staple in the ground and the staples pull out rapidly. For those applications I recommend at least a 12 inch, or longer staple of heavier guage or some other thicker staking material. Perhaps even a helical screw to stay in the ground and resist the upward force. In conclusion, these Ashman landscape staples work just fine for light duty hold downs of landscape fabric or plant supports. They have a low cost/staple if you buy them in quantity. These Ashman 11 guage garden staples are equivalent, or better quality then competitive offerings on Amazon at a lower price point.

We’ll made and work great!
These staples are made very well and are tough. I have used my foot many times to push the rest of the way in the ground. Sharp points go right through the fabric and soil.

These worked well
I used these to hold down the black land scaling, and my vapor barrier in my crawlspace. It does a great job keeping everything down.

Easy to use, holds landscaping fabric
I used these for holding down landscaping fabric under mulch. They are easy to use, long enough to stay in the fabric, and we haven't had any problem with them coming back out of the ground after about 8 weeks.

These are decent, but a little bit flimsy.
I got these to put down some landscape fabric in my front yard. While generally they are ok, they are a little bit flimsy when trying to hit them down into the ground (if it's hard). I bent quite a few with the rubber mallet when trying to install.

Great product, but needs a sturdier box
These are very sturdy landscape staples and a much better value than in the stores, but the box they are shipped in is not sturdy enough for the weight of the staples. The box mine were in tore during shipping, and staples were falling out when I picked it up off my porch. After counting them all, I found that 13 had fallen out and were lost during shipping.

Light weight yet moderate sturdy , multi use : artificial turf, mesh, netting , hose
Good value, and long lasting ( used for 1 year). Buy 1 box, and see if they suit your purpose. Holds well in windy garden and soil. Galvanized kinda but may rust - overtime. Taken off 1 star because box was damaged, and almost broken due to weight. Dunno if it was the shipper= amazon or sender = from UStips- tip is pointy- hold from the top and not near the end ( of arrow). Drive into gorund fully- to keep away form childen, pets or urself to prevent tripping. Do not use hammer, they will bend, use hand pressure.-roll ground cover, wider than prep area to have enough surface for the spikes to grip.I benefit from others' reviews, enjoy writing mine. Helpful is How I hope you find this review. :-)

Pretty happy with these staples.
I have not used these as yet as I am finding it difficult to find landscaping fabric but these stakes/staples are made of very thick and sturdy metal. These are much better than the ones I used years ago purchased from a big box store. They are heavy and not easily bendable which makes this a quality product.
