Exalent price for a good product
I purchased the HYJC sharpening stone set to replace a set of water stones I lost while moving.I use water stones a lot to polish my plainer blades after regrinding them i sharpen about nine 12 inch blades per month as well as chisles and hand plainer blades. I will likely switch to HJYC water stones at my shop in the future because it is difficult to polish out the blade surfacing machine marks on my tool steel plainer blades and the HYJC stones cut fast and with less effort. Also, I use water stones at my house for all of our kitchen and work knives and I was a butcher for a year so I have some experience sharpening knives.I used The HYJC sharpening stones for the first time today at my house and they were excellent. The 400 grit stone quickly reshaped blunted edges. My wife is hell on knives and uses them in the garden to cut weeds and dig when I am not looking.I did notice that the 400 stone wore faster than a higher grit stone wears, but this seems necessary to me because of the significant amount of metal removed by the stone. If the stone did not weare at the speed it does, it would become completely plugged up with metal smeared across the surface as I have seen with some other brands. Generally the faster a water stone cuts the faster it wears as the manufacturer has set the ware rate as just fast enough to keep the surface clean. The 400 grit stone saved me around hour of time unblunting the edges of my knives. This made me super happy as most whetstones take forever to unblunt edges of seven damaged knives and after many hours of previous experience, I want to get past this step as fast as possible while maintaining a good edge profile. If I wear out the 400 grit stone after several hours of use, I am going to buy another one, because time is money and this stone is fast and reduces the effort needed to get the job done. The 1000 grit stone seemed very aggressive. I would lable it 600, which is fine with me. I spent maby a minute or two at this grit to remove the marks from the 400 grit stone. This stone did not weare more than my other stonesThe 3000 grit stone was also agressive, around 1000 when compared to others and I am ok with that. I spent maby one minute on each knife and they were sharp enough that they would just start to shave arm hair about 1/6 of the hair. Also the sharpened are had a slightly burnished appearance and the edge was somewhat smooth.I finished the knives with 30 seconds each with a 14 inch Victorionox steel and they were sharp enough to shave about 30-50% of my arm hair in a single pass and I was very satisfied with my results. Any sharper would be scary in the kitchen. I am a bit worried that the knives are too sharp as is with my kids. The whole knife sharpening process took me 1/3 the time of my previous stones, which was a course 400 grit wet stone followed by a 1000 grit water stone and a 500 grit water stone. The flattening stone worked great at slightly rounding the edges of the 3000 grit water stone. I did this because the edge of the stone was catching my blade just a bit as I did not hold the blade perfectly when sharpening near the hilt.I did not need to flatten the 400 grit stone after unblunting seven knives, and the 1000 and 3000 grit stones showed no perceptible wear after sharpening 15 kitchen knives 4-14 inches in length.I did not use the strop or leather as I did not need a highly polished blade in my kitchen, but they looked good enough to work although the strop is a bit thin and limp. But to be honest I don't know how they can afford to include them at this price point. The chisel guide looks like the one I use for my hand plainer I did not see any issues with the construction but I did not use it.I highly recommend this HYJC sharpening stone set.

great stones, great price
Best purchase I every made. while my knife doesnt cut a fine layer of tomato without touching it, it became as good as it was when I purchased. I recommend users to learn how to properly sharpen the knife. It took me about 30 minutes to sharpen a single knife to what it is today. The knife gets really sharp. Also, with use, the surface gets uneven. I recommend you draw a grid in pencil and then file using the grinder stone until the grids disappear. This ensures the surface remains flat during all use.

Knife sharpening stone
The kit was exactly as described and comes in a convenient storage box for when you are done. I recently upgraded my cutlery. In the past, my knives were always poorly sharpened. Since I bought this set of whetstones, it has become non-container. If you don't want to spend alot of money then this is the kit for you.

I received exactly what I ordered
The sharpening stone set came in a timely manner. The set was complete, every item was included. The stones work well but a diamond stones would work better. I chose this set because they were cheaper.

Best purchase I every made
I am just starting out sharpening with whet stones. I have found these stones to be very nice and the instructional videos that come along with the set on knifeplanet are extremely helpful to anyone starting out. The customer service is amazing, I lost the site for the videos and sent an email to get the information and immediately there was a reply with all of the links that I needed. I appreciate their attention to their customers!!
