When I attended support groups for parents of children with Autism, I began to notice the newer parents were often sad to the point of "grief". Then I noticed how other parents and I comfortable with our children's Autism were able to laugh and enjoy our lives. I asked "How did I get from there to here?" It was then I discovered it was a grieving process much like when we experience a death in the family or the loss of a beloved pet. It is this journey of recovery filled with Southern wit and wisdom for you to read and hopefully enjoy. I want you to gain some real perspective of what makes YOUR child with Autism such a gift and to give you confidence to navigate this ocean of challenges. I have been where you are, and I understand.
