Boy Craft XTreme Science Grow Your Own Mini Crystal Jungle Scene

The pieces of the jungle are all thin cardboard and don't stand well on the base. You finally get one upright on its own, and the slightest puff of air as you move your hand away knocks over one or two items nearby. Finally, you get it 'good enough' and add the liquid gel to activate the Crystal growth, and the whole thing is disrupted again, even if you're being really careful. It's an unintended game of dominoes, and the flimsy construction of this set makes for a massive headache over a craft you wish to enjoy with your kids. Oh, and don't dream for one moment that older kids can assemble this with only light help! Not gonna happen. The Crystal growth is pretty cool and happens pretty fast. We could see some within 45 minutes or so. But a day later, and there's nothing visible on the lion or monkey, and just the tiniest glimmer on both fake grass strips. Both trees grew amazing spots of Crystal, but only in sporadic patches. This set is too much of a pain for such minimal results and I'd call it a dud over all. If you want to grow crystals with your kids, get one of the sets that grow them in containers. It takes much longer, but is far less hassle with far better results. I paid $1.49 for this set at the big box store that begins with W and that's probably about what it's worth!
