Wonderful software for those interested in writing!
Macjournal is great software for those interested in writing, especially those interested in taking their journal thoughts and transferring them to a blog. This software allows you to have different journals. If offers you the the ability to connect your journal to a blog platform so that you can send the journal thought directly to your blog, or you can keep it in Macjournal. If you want to write, but don't necessarily want to blog all you write, this is a great program.

Decent Journal
My one complaint on this item is that the disk must be inserted to use it, as opposed to a product that is downloaded to your hard drive. Good journal though, you can keep multiple journals, title and date entries.

Can do most things, better, on a Mac
The software has some positive features: good interface, reasonable to learn. And it seems to be refined and well-developed compared to other similar programs. However, I've found that the program does not do much more than I can already do on my MacIntosh. The website suggests that the software is like Lance Armstrong choosing a good bike instead of settling for something less, but I actually feel that I can do less with the program. On a Mac, one can set up a folder (labeled Journal 2009, or the like) along the left of the finder and use MSWord or Pages for entries which have much better and more extensive graphic and text functions that MacJournal. In fact, when I tried MacJournal it felt like the program was simply reinventing the MacIntosh Finder for me, with less capability. And while it's nice to have things in one place, this also means one has too keep using the software to preserve the journaling system, or face a reorganization with lots of exporting in the future. Also, the program creates a 'document" or like for each day, which seems like overkill. Then one has to open them separately to view. I realize that one can group such separate entries and export to wordprocessing as one document, but one could start this way in Word or Pages. With MacJournal one could reflect in one entry (renamed to something like January or 2009) for multiple days, but this again is similar to using a wordprocessing document.Overall I'd suggest this for power journalers willing to commit to one system.

Day One lost my entries...
I've just started using MacJournal after quitting Day One when it lost two months of my entries after an upgrade. I was furious, even though Day One technical staff tried to find my entries, no luck! So, I am very interested to read that another user of MacJournal lost all their work when they upgraded. This is outrageous. Our entries are unique and for the software to simply lose or erase them is totally unacceptable.I shall review now whether I will continue with MacJournal or indeed any journal. I use Pages, so may well set up a folder for journal entries in Pages format. Not so pretty an interface as the journal apps but at least I'm convinced my work won't be annihilated as it has been with this damned Day One app. I write my entries on the iPad so I need to check if there is a Pages equivalent for iOS. If not, can always resort to simply Notes app.I am furious at the cavalier attitude these journal app developers put out their apps and can't provide foolproof security.

A good choice in a limited market
I like this product, way overdue for me. I use it strictly as a personal journal. The only gripe I have is that every once in a while the journal crashes and when you restart the program the password protection is off (I've even been able to get into it after restarting the computer without a password). Only because I use this as my journal, I like at least the illusion that when it's password protected, it will be fully password protected whether the program crashes or not. Otherwise I'm happy with it.

Beautiful Design---Terrible Support!
I have used MacJournal for years, keeping upgrades current. In last two years, however, I have lost blocks of journal entries twice! I forgave it the first time because I enjoy the organizational capabilities of MacJournal so much; but, after the second loss, I am looking for a different program! When I tried to get technical help, I found that it was not just terrible, but non-existant! I'm sad because it really is a great program. When they make it easier to backup (as in DropBox, etc.) I'll become a fan again.

MacJournal has come a long way
Having recently outgrown MS Word for my journaling, I turned to an excellent program called NoteBook. I soon found that NoteBook was great for research and work-related records, but the journaling aspect was not very fluid. Then I came across MacJournal 5 as part of a MacHeist deal. I am very impressed with the way this version of MacJournal makes journaling very easy and intuitive. I am able to create a new entry (auto-dated) very quickly when I'm in a hurry, or I can really deck it out when I have more time. Adding links, PDFs, and some photos has been very easy so far. I'm not a blogger, so I have not tried the feature that allows you to upload entries into your blog. MacJournal allows you to use tags, highlights, and checkboxes. It also has a full-screen mode that is nice. The one feature it does not have (unless I missed it), is automatic indexing. This is a feature that NoteBook has where every word, name, and proper noun is automatically entered into an index, making it easy to find past entries. A feature I have not tried but looks promising is the export to PDF function. So am I worried about all of my important journal entries being trapped in a proprietary format? Maybe a little. Fortunately, MacJournal allows journals to be exported in PDF format. I expect that I will export my entries to PDF once per year in order to be certain they are safe. I will update my review once I have a chance to do a large, complicated export.

Update took everything
I bought MacJournal a couple of years ago. I absolutely loved working with it. Unfortunately, I lost everything when the company had a free update. I wasn't the only customer this happened to, and customer support didn't help at all. After all the time I put into journaling, I was crushed to find it all gone in a matter of moments.

Quick, easy, functional
I'm just getting used to this program but really, it takes nothing to use. Easy entries, easy searching. Installation a breeze.Had a different journaling program (Lifejournal) before with a windows-based computer. This one is much easier to use and is more streamlined. Plus! you don't get lobbed with emails trying to sell you additional programs.Quite nice. Will see how it evolves over time.
