SUPER HEAVY DUTY

Fantastic for rigging a single or double point yoga hammock (you'd need 2!)
I'm using this to rig an aerial yoga hammock, so it has to be safe for both static and dynamic loads. It is WAY over-engineered for my needs, and that is FANTASTIC. I bought this descender, and combined it with heavy duty hammock straps and a twist-locking gate carabiner to hang the hammock (there are some great tutorial videos online). (I saw a lot of the screw-lock type and it looked as though it would be eventually annoying to have to deal with that when making adjustments to the height of the yoga hammock during practice.) In contrast, this twist-lock is GREAT. It moves easily and makes fast adjustments effortless. Also, I had a friend who is a firefighter/paramedic who actually teaches high-angle rescue with equipment like this look over ALL of my items before I purchased them (more on my additional purchases below) and he said it was all great stuff! Another great tip - you can buy some inexpensive Nylon tricot fabric online and a really soft and luxurious (and only SLIGHTLY stretchy) hammock AND get the full 108" wide by doing your own rigging - instead of the rough feel of the pre-made hammocks that are usually made of parachute-material. Bleh. I will say that the tricot fabric is more slippery and therefore more challenging for beginners. That was a fun surprise. Also, more comfortable.

Strong, Large, durable, and light.
I use this when rigging from a tree. It is quite large but that is a plus. It is light due to aluminum construction and is strong at 40Kn rating. My very heavy stainless steal figure 8 is only 50 Kn rated so not much difference.

Great Rescue 8 for Rappelling
Great Rescue 8. Will definitely buy this brand again. Used rappelling this weekend and had 0 issues with it.
