Works quickly to transfer gas from container to car.
I had purchased a no-spill gas can that came with an extension tip which then you would have to press a button to release the gas flow. Adding gas to my car with that gas can which was a 5 gallon container took forever to tranfer the gas. After a while of holding that amount of gas up while pressing a button will fatigue anyone. It took about 10 minutes to transfer that amount of gas. I then searched for a tube to try to help transfer the gas faster and came to this item on Amazon. Since I had purchased a Hopkins product recently and was very happy with it I then decided to give this product a try. Wow, I could not believe how easy and convenient it is using this siphon tube. Since I knew the gas can had to be higher than the gas hole in my car I decided to place my gas can on top of my car. I have a RAV4 with a roof rack so I was comfortable leaving it up on my car. I then placed the metal side of the tubing into the gas can and placed the other end of the tubing into the gas hole. Once everything was set I then began shaking the tube up and down and within 3 seconds I began to see the fuel being sucked through the tubing and going into my car. I then noticed there was a rapid clicking noise which was the ball bearing in the metal part of the tubing moving which indicated to me fuel was passing through. As fuel was being transferred I then held the gas can at an angle so that every drop was taken out. Before I know it the fuel had completely transferred into my car with none left in the gas can. All taking about a minute. Not only was it transferred quickly but I did not have to hold it up during the transfer. This was the cheapest siphon at the time of purchase and I'm glad I chose another Hopkins product. Very helpful piece of equipment to have around. Highly recommend.

Holy cow!
When I saw this I thought...eh. The tube was a bit kinked from the way it was packaged. It's also just one of those things you could do without if you had to. I tried it today to empty one of those annoying over engineered safety gas cans that are more dangerous than safe...may the people that passed the Gas can safety law spill gas on themselves daily from these cans! Ok back to my experience, This freaking thing was awesome. It emptied the 5 gal. crappy can in a minute...well, it did leave about an inch of gas. You may have to sit the gas can higher than the vehicles gas refill area to ensure good flow. I placed the gas can on my trucks bedcover and put the hose into my gas tank and the other end into "the crappy gas can"...3 shakes and the gas flowed into my truck! easy and no mess! This is a simple idea and affordable...can't go wrong fueling tanks from gas cans with this guy!........................UPDATE!!!....................All things are not perfect and this loses 1 star. It is a siphon and that means it has to siphon from a higher spot and drain into a lower spot. This can be a pain in the bu++ for some vehicles. For my wifes Jeep Wrangler I tried to place the gas can in the back cargo area and it was too low to keep the siphon flow. I raised it up and ballanced it on top of the back door...only then would it work. The tube came out of the Jeep and gas went all over while I tried to stop the flow, all the while... holding the ballanced gas can on the cargo door. It works well if you have a flat high surface for the gas can to sit while it drains into a lower area...otherwise it can be a pain in the bu++.

Works Great Despite The Poor Packaging
I have had a similar product for years. Someone stole it this year so I had to buy a new one.I initially purchased another hose on Amazon that had a larger 3/4" opening. This was not a good product as the hose is too big to maintain the right level of siphon pressure under normal usage. This product has the CORRECT hose size; it is smaller and more resembled the product I had originally. It siphons with good pressure and is easy to get started. There are other reviews that criticize the packaging as it leaves the hose with kinks in it. My packaging was no different as my hose had 3 separate kinks in it. I had to gently heat the hose to resolve this.Feedback is a luxury and in my opinion the manufacturer should have fixed the packaging long ago. If they would have, I'd have given them 5 stars.

Works Great
I purchased this siphon when I got my generator last year. It is so simple and so awesome!I had a generator full of 8 gallons gas plus another 15 gallons in cans. I had to dump the gas after a few months (yes, I used fuel stabilizer) so it wouldn't go stale. This device let me drain the generator so I could run out the last few ounces with without wasting much gas. I also siphoned the three 5 gallon cans into my car. Without the siphon I would have had to hold up and balance the cans which are about 40 lbs when full.Let the tubing air dry before storing. How it works:The receiving container must be lower that the source. You insert the brass end into the gas source you want to drain. Insert the tubing end into the container you want to fill. Jiggle the brass valve up and down a couple of inches, making sure it stays in the gas.The gas inches up the tubing and eventually starts to siphon. The valve allows the gas to go up but not back as you shake the tubing up and down. The key is finding a rhythm - not too fast, not too slow, and keeping the valve fully immersed in the gas. What it does not do:1. You can not siphon gas from a car fuel tank. There is a valve in the fill tube that will prevent you from inserting a tube into the gas tank.2. It is not very fast. takes about3. The valve will not work unless it stays immersed in the gas. It is virtually impossible to siphon from a nearly empty tank.GAS IS DANGEROUS. BE CAREFUL.
