I can see the magnet being of value, my wife (end user) says it isn't needed. Funnel IS needed, but could have bought separately for less. Other tools I am told are not necessary, ecxcept for the larger jar tongs, and these are junk. I had previously bought some good ones here, so these were going to be a backup set. Save your self some time and money. This set is not worth the money. I will keep them because of the educational value. On the GOOD side. UPS left them at my doorstep. It was raining outside. They left them nicely placed and tucked up in a plastic bag so the boxes and contents did not get wet. Thank you UPS.I received an email from Amazon. They are refunding my purchase price for the entire canning kit. I am not changing my opinion about the item, but I am amazed at the fact that Amazon took it on themselves to contact me after the saw my review. I have always been very pleased with everything else I received from Amazon. This just ensures it as a good place for me to shop. Thank you Amazon.

I have been canning almost non-stop since ordering my Can it Kit. I already had a canning funnel (jar filler is what we always called it) from my mother's canning days but having a new one instead of one 10 years old is wonderful. It makes filling the jars so easy. I can't say it's better than the old one, they are identical except in color but having two makes the work go faster. Same with the jar lifter. The new one is slightly better, the old one the grip was getting a bit loose after years of use. I'm still using both, one to handle jars before filling, the other to take jars out of the canner. I LOVE the lid lifter. It's so much easier than using tongs. I think it is one of my favorite things in the kit. I could do without it, but now that I have it, I really don't want to! The canning tongs, I haven't used really, there has been no need to with all the other things in the kit. Normally I would use them to get rims and lids out, but with the lid lifter, I don't need them. The bubble popper was another thing I never knew I needed. I had always used a butter knife or a ruler. I love it! It tells me just how much head space I have and gets the air pockets out of the jars. I have found no use for the lid remover wrench. Perhaps at some point I will need it but for now, it's in a drawer. I also love the labels, I used to just use a sharpie to write on the lid, but I really like the appearance the labels give and since they go on the lid I don't have to worry about them being hard to get off, I toss those after use any way.

These items are necessities for canning. I love the magnetic poker thing for lifting the jar tops out of boiling water. I also love the jar lifter for putting the filled jars in the boiling water and for removing the filled jars from the boiling water. I do use the lid tightener but I don't use a lot of force with it. You definitely need the funnel to fill your jars so you don't get jelly or jam all over the jars. These would make a great gift for someone along with the ball jam maker. All of these are great tools which will make your canning experience easier. You need these to complete your experience.

LOVE this set of canning tools! The rubber really grips for safely removing hot jars and the extras like the magnetic tip on the lid remover works great for hot water and the air bubble remover is just a bonus! All stars and I highly recommend this set to all who preserve and can food!

This set of canning supplies is very useful especially for our family since we like to make various kinds of jellies & jams. The magnetic stick really is helpful when getting lids out of the hot water too. I am so glad I purchased this set for it certainly is worth it.

Somehow all my canning supplies got lost in the last move. I love this kit as it had everything I needed and the box is sturdy enough to store everything in until my next canning project. The red color is a great idea as it makes them easy to find in a drawer.

The Can It Kit does just what it's supposed to. Help me with my canning needs. I put it to work right away and processed7 pints of fresh pork. Everyone needs to understand the need to have food on hand in case of an emergence. Ever been tothe grocery store just before a major storm? Then you know what I'm talking about.itsmesrd

I have been making jam and relish or over twenty years and finally broke down and bought some helpful tools. They are great and have made canning easier. The color is fantastic as well. I have used every piece in the kit.
