Humanity's Deep History and Destiny
The second volume of The Gupta Vidya, subtitled The Golden Thread, presents the deep history of humanity from the standpoint of Theosophy, the ageless teachings that underlay all religious and spiritual traditions. Explaining these teachings (first given out by Helena P. Blavatsky in the 19th century) in 21st century language, Raghavan N. Iyer, a brilliant teacher of Theosophy, explores various traditions, showing their ultimate source in the unfolding evolution of all existence. Drawing from the sacred texts of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and Christianity, he illuminates the fundamental doctrines of the great and diverse spiritual teachers of humanity. He elucidates the universal ideas of karma and reincarnation and shows how they serve the power of self-transformation and the choosing of a meaningful life within the whole of humanity. The language of these essays resonate with the deepest heart of each human being, inviting us through practical suggestions to encounter a more profound sense of self through meditation, thoughtfulness and transcendence. This is a must text for anyone who has felt that there is more to life than the daily round and who desires a deeper connection to all humanity and to the divine.
