not seller fault... ours.
The product was perfect, but my husband had the size wrong.... so I guess when I have time, I have to take these over to Whole Foods to return them for a different size... but right now I have no time for doing that... way to busy here on the farm.

Handy!
I use these to repair or extend soaker hoses in my garden. I found that instead of using a pipe nipple and clamps to use a male and female fitting screwed together. Less leaks, a LOT less leaks! The only downside is the clamps included. I guess they're "metric" 1/4" because at some point in tightening with a 1/4" nut driver it starts slipping and I have to switch to a flat blade screwdriver. Also, the quality of the clamps seem to be lacking because I've had a couple to strip out, but that may've been my fault trying to get them too tight. YES......A GOOD DEAL if you need to repair 1/2" garden type hoses. I was happy I found them online.

solid brass with hex heads wrench fasteners on both male and female. stainless clamp.
step 1: Cut old hose with a brand new sharp razor blade box cutter perpendicular to length of hose .step 2: Wrap loosely 3 inches of old hose end with black vinyl electrical tape.step 3: Place hose end on top of black surface in direct summer sunlight for a minimum of one hour to heat up the rubber tube.step 4: Use a file to taper the end of the male or female mender so it will slide more easily into a 5/8" hose.step 5: Place stainless steel clamp onto hose end.step 6: Lubricate the end of the male or female mender with WD-40 or similar product and twist while pushing forcefully into the hot pliable hose end.step 7: slide clamp an 1/8 inch away from male or female mender then tighten with either a large traditional flat head screwdriver or a 7mm hex head socket wrench till you feel resistance. Do not over tighten.step 8: Hit the extra clamp strap with hammer to bend it towards hose and then wrap with black vinyl electrical tape to prevent personal injury from sharp metal strap.step 9: Make sure there is a rubber seal between connections to prevent leaks.step 10: Before connecting hose, apply a liberal amount of silver anti seize paste onto threads of male or female mender to prevent corrosion which could lead to stuck connection between hoses and hose nozzle or between hose and spigot on house.step 11: Tighten connections by hand until you feel resistance. Do not over tighten.P.S. Never but aluminum menders. They will have a galvanic reaction with brass spigot or connector and will become stuck over time if you do not use anti seize paste.

Perfect for soaker hoses
These fit 1/2" soaker hoses perfectly. I buy huge rolls of bulk soaker hose and build customer hoses of various lengths and these are the best fittings I've ever found for that purpose. The shanks are a little short, but they work. The hose clamps are adequate, they could be slightly larger, but they will work if the hose wall is thin enough.I've had no problems with leaks. The last photo is a comparison with 5/8" fittings from Ace hardware. These are significantly smaller.

FAQ
This is actually a good product but people seem confused about the sizing. This may save you some time but math is involved:1. Hoses from big box stores generally come in two sizes: 5/8" and 1/2" (figure out which size you have)2. Use a micrometer or a ruler to find out the INSIDE diameter (I.D.) of your hose (my vinyl hose had an I.D. of 11/16" = 17.46 mm)3. This hose repair kit has an OUTSIDE diameter (O.D.) of 0.65" (16.5 mm). Scroll to the 3rd picture they provide, bottom right hand corner.4. If the I.D. of your hose is SLIGHTLY bigger than the O.D. of the repair kit flange (the part that goes into the hose), then you have a winner (mine was 1 mm bigger so it was neither snug nor loose).5. If the I.D. of your hose is smaller than the O.D. of the repair kit, do not buy this kit.6. If the I.D. of your hose is more than 1 mm bigger than the O.D. of the repair kit, do not buy this kit.7. Last of all, re-measure the I.D. of your hose before buying. Good luck.

Almost perfect
The clamps are fragile i had one break but once you have the hose on it after tightning it down it does give a good connection, even with out the clamp you wont be able to pull out the hose unless you cut it. Note If you are using pvc adapters the only one that worked with the male side of this is the orbit twist adapters. Normal female adapters will cause the hose to slip out and leak.
