Classic Bible study tool. Exactly what my teen daughter requested.

My Bible of choice is the King James version & all Christians are aware that a lot of BibleSpeak in the KJV is archaic & difficult to understand. To have a good Bible study session, a good Bible dictionary is a necessary accessory, not only for definition, but to learn the origin of those words. My own Bible dictionary was lacking, so I asked my pastor which Bible dictionary he used & he told me that "Vine's" is the best. Textbooks can be expensive & when someone suggested I look for a used one, I turned to Amazon. Best thing I did! I bought a used Vine's dictionary at a "bargain basement" price & it was in excellent condition. Not only that, folks, I got it in 2 days! When you buy from Amazon, you never have to wait long!

I was told to pick this up by a friend that really studies the word of God. I've been using it a few months and I'm amazed by the Greek and Hebrew language. This reference does so well at defining these words used in the Bible. The true message of the bible begins to unfold once you understand the Greek and Hebrew words used in the original writings. It enables you to dig even further into the treasure of the bible.

While studying the old testament, I found this dictionary to only be partially functional. The were many locations not found in this reference publication as well as names in the lineage of the family hierarchies of the Old Testament

Excellent condition, quick delivery, great value, but DOES NOT have every word of N.T.

Let's be clear 'you get what you pay for'. Essentially if you get a 1,300+ page hardback for ~£10 something's going to give. I won't dwell on the content since I assume everyone who's looking at this already knows what this is - if you don't, it contains about 130 pages of ~100-150-ish Hebrew OT words from Vine's unfinished notes and 1,000+ pages of Greek words from the NT (KJV English to Greek, with RV 'corrections'). A kind of English-Greek-English dictionary/thesaurus. I'm not sure about the 'concordance' bit.So what gives? Two words: paper and printing. This is all printed on very 'nasty' paper and poorly reproduced. Well what did you/I expect for a tenner?Summary: you get the contents but at the expense of the 'tactile' experience. You 'pays your money and you takes your choice'. Good for 'students' on a budget but personally I wish I'd bought a better version.

This should be beside your KJV and Strong's. It is imperative to know exactly what the Lord says or said. Puzzling verses are translated by content, idioms, cultural and intent. If you can't travel to Israel, this is an illuminating volume, and will give a very good understanding of what life was like in the Levant in the first century, It is not too complex in it's illumination, young or old. It possesses no denomination to mislead you.I wish it was available 25 years ago!
