A classic. Review: Dated but still wonderful! - This book was recommended by a dear friend and it has not been a disappointment at all. It's a wonderful introduction for toddlers to the fascinating world around us. Even adults might learn a thing or two from reading this. I did and I have a pretty good knowledge of the flora and fauna (how did I not know that kangaroo rats made use of metabolic water? So cool!). The artwork was created in the late 50s, so it is a little dated. However, it's still beautiful, captivating and full of small details. It does a pretty good job of representing several different biomes, but largely sticks to what we would are familiar with in the US/Canada. It is a fairly wordy book but my 2 year old will happily sit through the whole story and ask to read it again. All depends on what kind of reader you have. Highly recommend this!

Awesome conditon
The condition was new. I wasn't sure if this book was new or used. It came in timely fashion. I noticed this book was the same thing I got in another book with a different title. I wanted this one but probably not have gotten the other one if I knew it was same. It was a gift for my mom who loved it. She loves the illustrator's work.

Eloise Wilkins
In the late 70s my mom taught me to recognize illustrators by pointing out the beautiful style of Eloise Wilkins. To this literal *day,* I'm just like "Holy cow," at the sight of these buttery, clear-eyed, corn-fed children - somehow they really communicate everything about childhood that's special. A little of that never hurts any kid, right? Also, this particular book is science-based while stll offering a thoughtful, calming - almost spiritual - break from the hyper, character driven stories that get on your nerves

Long lasting story
My 48 year old son still refers to this book. He had it in a large size, which I couldn't find, but bought him a copy for his eventual grandchildren.

Golden Book - Wonders of Nature
This is a wonderful science book for the "little ones". It's illustrated by my all-time favorite Golden Book illustrator - the late Eloise Wilkin.

I loved this book from childhood. the same book in a bigger print was in our home and my mum has drawn those same drawings in her drawing book in Pencil. I have been awestruck at those drawings and the prints in the book from childhood. I found this book and immediately bought this for my daughter. she is two and really enjoying the pictures and the nature.

Love the book, great for toddlers first paper books. Sweet story, great pictures. Some general world wide knowledge of animals, fish, and plants. Very nice vocabulary, not baby talk. Love these classic books, they really help increase the child’s word base. Thank you.
