An Explosion of Coconut Lime Goodness.
Alright, sit down because boy do I have a tale to spin with this lovely little candle at the center of it.One day as I was cleaning up my apartment I was unimpressed with the smell of dust at paper. I wanted something new and bold that would really kick me in the nostrils whenever I walked in, but in a good way. I started browsing for candles and lo and behold, I stumbled upon the candles by Our Own Candle Company Brand, and what lovely candles they are. I started with their french vanilla and cedarwood vanilla, both of which are wonderful as well. I felt really boring by just sticking to vanilla after going through two 100 hour burn candles, so I started my search for something that would add more spice to my smelling experience. Strangely enough I ignored all of the candles that mentioned any sort of spice, so one could assume that my previous statement is a stretch at best.In my search I came upon this Coconut Lime candle and thought to myself, "Man, that sounds wonderful, and look, just as inexpensive as the rest. This is the candle. This shall be burned as an offering to my nose." I put it in my cart alongside another french vanilla because although I was looking for change I am a creature of habit, checked out, and waited. The candles arrived to my really rural and tiny town in two days, so this is also a shout out to Amazon Prime. Keep up the awesome work. I unboxed the candles, individually popped all of the bubbles in the bubblewrap(They are the kind with the really big bubbles that are super satisfying to pop, so it is extra fun, unless you are someone that likes to twist and squeeze the tiny bubble bubblewrap, then I am afraid you will be disappointed with the packaging.) trimmed the coconut lime wick, lit it, and relaxed. This next part requires skipping forward in time when I had gone about 1/3 of the way through my candle. It is worth mentioning that I live in an apartment that has really strict rules about flammables, namely that they are not allowed. It came with an oven and I have set numerous things on fire with it, though, so I think it is a silly rule. Well one day I got a knock on the door from the person in charge of making sure rooms aren't destroyed and mildly panicked because I had this wonderful candle going. I didn't know where the lid was so I threw a measuring cup on it to put it out and trap any smoke it would make afterwards, but the thing I did not realize was that this measuring cup has a bit of water in it. I muttered obscenities to myself and tried to take the measuring cup off, only to drop the candle and break some of the glass from the mason jar. I thought, "Oh, to hell with it, I will just answer the door and take a fine." but it turned out that I was just getting a flier for some meeting I had to attend. With that issue resolved I turned back to my candle. The water had done two things. It had instantly hardened the wax while also separating itself out, leading to a lumpy appearance, like the candle had lots of pimples, but filled with beautiful-smelling water instead of pus. I thought about how I could fix the candle after this happened. THIS IS THE PRECAUTIONARY PART OF THE TALE. ACCEPT YOUR LOSSES AND LAMENT OVER THE FACT THAT YOUR IDIOCY LOST YOU 2/3(6$ worth) OF THIS WONDERFUL, FIVE STAR CANDLE. I did not do this. I decided to repair the candle, like the genius that I am.If you are going to ignore the warning in all caps above, I will list the steps to repair the candle in order.1. Put the ruined candle in a pot of water and gently bring to a boil.2. After the water is boiling wait for the entirety of the candle to melt.3. The candle should separate into two layers. The top layer will be your candle wax and the bottom will be water.4. Once liquefied place the candle somewhere to cool and remove the wick. (I fished mine out with a butter knife)5. Wait for the wax to completely solidify.6. Once the wax is solid, poke holes down to the bottom of the jar so the water may escape. (I used the same butter knife)7. Melt the wax in a boiling water bath once again and return the wick to its position.8. Allow the candle to cool. It is now ready for use. That all sounds well and good, doesn't it? I got all the way to step 7 when things went wrong. I put the wick back and picked up the jar WHEN THE DAMN THING EXPLODED. I guess boiling already cracked glass was the glaring flaw in this whole thing, but maybe someone can repeat this process with an undamaged jar to confirm my suspicions. So now I have a kitchen and myself covered in wax that is quickly solidifying. Great. Do you know how to clean up large spills of wax? I sure as hell don't. I spent half an hour scraping bits of wax off of my oven, sink, cabinets, floor, and cookware with a spatula. This didn't get all of it, so I just got paper towels and spread around what was left so that it is not visible and has no lumps. I then skated around in wax-slicken socks to distribute the wax on the floor. THIS IS THE BEST PART OF THE CLEANUP PROCESS. IT IS ARGUABLY WORTH THE REST OF THE MESS. It isn't like I am staying in this apartment forever, and all I really need is to not get caught. So what was the result of everything?1. I have a novelty water-resistant sink.2. My entire apartment smells like I burned this whole candle at once. It is amazing.3. I smell like the candle. Even after a shower I smell faintly of coconut and lime and I feel very smooth. I'm a guy. It is like a smell-good waxing that does not involve any pain and removes no hair.4. The bag of trash sitting in my kitchen is the best smelling bag of trash ever.5. I get to order another one of the Our Own Candle Company Brand candles much sooner than expected. All in all it has been a fun experience. Both myself and my apartment smell fantastic. Even if you skip the part with the candle exploding and having to panic and clean up the mess you get a less intense but still thoroughly enjoyable scent. I got about 30 hours out of about 1/3 of the candle, so the 100 burn hours claim still holds, I think.5/5, I would definitely recommend this candle to anyone, though I may not necessarily wish my experience with it on them.

Smell is perfect
Best candle I’ve bought in a while. The smell is amazing! Smells like grandma’s kitchen on a Sunday morning. Definitely will be buying more, as a matter of fact I’ve already put in my next purchase. Love the Buttered Maple Syrup

Great fall-time candle.
Love the jar, loved the scents, but it gets hard to finish burning because of the narrow mouth. I should have a few more burns left but the wick is too far down to light with a match.

Pretty but maybe not the best smelling
First candle by this company. I love the jar and the packaging was great but this scent smells a bit like cough syrup to me. But it does smells better when its burning and I hope the cream part smells better than the strawberry.

Smells delish!!!
I haven't burned this candle yet but it smells amazing - like grape bubble gum from my childhood! I also deeply appreciated the level of care the item was packaged with - such attention to detail! I will definitely be buying more products in the immediate future!

Meh, at best
TLDR - No Strong ScentI'm looking for a candle that makes my whole house smell good. What's the point of a candle if you can't smell it? I bought from this company based on what I read about their company: "Our Own Candle Company started because we could not find a candle that had all the qualities we were looking for: no wasted wax, a great long lasting scent that spreads throughout the house, and a candle that lasts a very long time." This excited me. Of the 3 reasons you created your company, on e of those reasons was what I was looking for. I was optimistic.Like Icarus, my hopes for this candle flew too close to the sun, and my hopes melted and were plummeted to the ground. When my package arrived, I excitedly ripped open the box to smell a luxurious, rich smell. I asked my coworker if she could smell it, thinking I had lost my smell. My coworker just looked at me stupid because she smelled very little scent.I was still hopeful that once heated, the smell would emerge. That didn't happen. I let it burn for the suggested amount of time for 3 days in a row. As much as I hate to say it, my under $5 Walmart candle has a stronger scent. Will this candle have less wasted wax? Technically no, as I likely won't be keeping this candle in the collection as there's no scent.Did this candle spread its scent through my entire house? No. I barely smell it 6 feet away. Will this candle burn a long time?I won't be finding that out.
