Diamond Amplification USA Custom 4x12 Cab w/ Black Metal Grill
I currently own two Mesa Boogie Rectifier 4x12 Standard OS Straight Cabs which I absolutely love in terms of tone and reliability. I will not be parting with my Mesa Cabs anytime soon. When I needed another 4x12 Cab however, I decided to try something new and different to experiment with in my studio / rig setup. I considered other 4x12 cabs from Marshall, PRS, Friedman, and Bogner but ultimately decided on Diamond Amplification's product due to previous experience with Diamond products (Heretic, Nitrox, and 327SD) and very good customer service & support from Jeff Diamant himself. Other factors that led me to the Diamond Amplification USA Custom 4x12 Cab: wired @ 8 Ohms (same as my Mesas), loaded w/ Celestion V30's, metal grill option (as opposed to the usual grill cloth), and finally a great price on Amazon.com! The Diamond 4x12 is slightly shorter in height than the Mesa, but much heavier and solid in terms of weight and build quality (and YES the casters are bigger than on the Mesa!). Tonenally I find the Diamond Cab to have more mid-range cut, presence, and clarity that definitely covers a different "bandwidth" from the Mesa. It has good clear low end though, I must admit, I slightly prefer the Mesa's thunderous lows and broad bass response in some circumstances. Fast staccato-type playing on the lower / detuned strings with emphasis on clear individual notes would benefit better from the Diamond 4x12 cab IMHO. Its not so much about one product being "better" than the other as it is about knowing what you need or are trying to accomplish sonically. Obviously I choose to have and mix both options for different situations to cover a wider "sonic bandwidth." Make no mistake, the Diamond Amplification USA Custom 4x12 Cab w/ Black Metal Grill is built like a tank and is a top-of-the-line guitar speaker cabinet that sounds awesome!

Best Vintage 30-loaded cab I have played
Having played through a handful of Vintage 30 loaded 412 cabs and actually owning a Mesa oversized Recto cab, I think this cab is the best for me. I bought it to match a Diamond Spitfire II and now use it primarily with my newly purchased Diamond Heretic, but my Mesa DC-10 sounds great through it, as well. It's a straight front cab, but the speakers are angled up slightly. Plenty of low-end in this cab, the casters are great, and the tolex looks fantastic (as well as the hexagon metal grill cover). I already sold my Mesa cab.
