Q: I never received instruction card to “cure” item!!!! Could someone please tell me how to cure it, it is a gift?

Pour 1/4 cup of rice and course salt into the molcajete and grind with the pestle until the mixture turns to powder. Grind all inside, sides and bottom. Continue this process 3 or 4 times, each time with fresh rice and salt. You will see tiny rock granules in the powder. Dump out as you continue with the next. Do this until powder comes out clean with no more rock granules. Rotate the pestle, as you will also be smoothing out the pestle. Finally after all is clean , you may season it by crushing garlic and fresh green chile. You can let it set overnight. Rinse off after process is complete. Enjoy your fresh guacamole.!

If you follow the directions prior to first use there is no stone dust. It is removed following the washing & drying of the mortar & postal. Hope this helps.
