We have an 80 pound pitbull and a 70 pound shepherd, and the pit is a heavy chewer (no surprise!!). When they are home alone, the pit is in a crate, and because he has so much energy, he would rip up his bed if he didn't have something to chew on. We have had this Souper size bone for 3 months now, along with a few other Nylabones that we circulate to keep the dogs interested. We always let them choose which of the 4 that they want for the day, and for the longest time, the pitbull wasn't super keen on this one... that is until he realized that it was textured! That's when this one started becoming his favorite. Our Shephard also chews, but not as roughly or as frequently. As you can see from the pictures, our pit might only have one or two weeks left on this particular Nylabone, and even though we have three others, I think I will be repurchasing this one or trying out an equally textured bone to keep him busy. Originally, I was a bit worried with these in general, because as the dogs would chew, they would get smaller and smaller. Instead of immediately jumping to conclusions as some owners do, I did my research on how to upkeep these bones and ensure the safety of my dogs. What I have found from the company is that as long as the bones are being chewed into small plastic shavings, your dog should be okay to digest the plastic flakes without concern. It is also crucial to make sure that these bones remain a size that is still not "swallow-able." Once this one gets to a certain point, it will be replaced. These are great for dental upkeep, and is much like brushing their teeth. The vet says both dogs have beautiful teeth! Some people probably think that they get gross after a while, and that is true. Hair gets stuck in the small spikes on the toy, so what I do is just grab some dishwashing soap and a dish brush that I use only for the pet bowls and just scrub the bejeezus out of these things. It doesn't get all the hair out, but it helps. Another reviewer said they clip off the sharper pieces every once in a while. I do this too, after I clean them. It gives them a fresh canvas, and since some owners are concerned about their dogs gums, it might give them some piece of mind. But I will tell you, if your dog is a chewer, they won't care about their gums. Great product, will continue to buy!

My 75 lb German Shepherd loves it! This XL bone is very hard and heavy. Its the biggest bone I've gotten for him, but he goes through Large so quickly, I thought we'd give it a try. Other bones I've bought from this company have done a great job of keeping my dog's teeth clean and he enjoys the chewing. I'll probably buy this for him again. Hope it lasts a couple weeks.

What it costs in bucks is approved by my wallet, and its function is approved by our dog Buck. Buck is quite the chewer so we bought two just in case... he is still working on number one and it's hanging in there. Will buy again if Buck finishes this one off.

We have a Shepard mix puppy that is almost a year old. She is bad about chewing on everything! I was having trouble finding toys that would last and that she wouldn’t tear to shreds! This bone is wonderful! She has has it for months and it is still going strong!

We originally bought this for our 65 pound cane corso / bulldog mix who is an extreme chewer, but he started chewing the sides up and his mouth was bleeding from the plastic getting all shredded and rubbing on his mouth. I don't care if the shreds are considered "safe" in small bits, the bleeding is highly concerning. I tried to sand the bone down with sand paper, but it did no good. He immediately shredded it again and was bleeding again. We ended up giving it to our 45 pound lab / pit mix instead, and she does well with it and doesn't bleed. She's a very light chewer, though.

Always looking for a durable toy at a good price..

I don't know what people are talking about with it falling apart after a few minutes. I have a Pitbull and a Labrador Pitbull mix who both a heavy chewers. I have to constantly buy things for them to chew on or chew a part. I was nervous about the reviews but this came from a respected website as a recommendation and it was right. Both my fur kids have spent hours chewing on it and yeah there are marks from them chewing, I mean it's a chew toy. No blood, no gum issues, no problems, just doing what toy is supposed to do, get chewed and provide my kids with entertainment while I work from home during this time. I have had it about a week now and they still chew on randomly for a little bit at a time, not as much when it was a "new" toy lol They do prefer on end over the other which I find funny so there definitely must be a flavor difference. In my opinion the toy is exactly what it is, a chew toy being chewed on and once it's too chewed it goes in the garbage like my other chew toys that get destroyed.

My french bulldog loves these bones. My dog has many allergies (gets hypoallergenic treats and food) and is a very strong chewer (has broken every squeaky toy we've given him) so these bones are some of the only ones that stand up to the abuse and don't give him hives. The packaging boasts a steak and cheese, however I am not able to smell anything at all off this bone. Since I can't ask my dog what it tastes like, I can't confirm if this bone is indeed flavoured when you bite it and I'm not going to try.

Mijn hond vindt het bot totaal niet interessant, doet er helemaal niets mee. Dat wil overigens niet zeggen dat dit bot 'slecht' is, hij is redelijk kieskeurig.
