Mine was made of metal..Some kind of light weight aluminum for the ring and metal handle. The collar though was made of plastic. The title says trim only so I was pleasantly surprised to see a new monitor 14 valve in the box it came in. It matches my other oil bronze pieces (shower head, spout, and bathroom faucet). I love it. Simple yet elegant and does the job. It was also less expensive than the other delta monitor 14 oil bronze valve trim that was being sold on Amazon.

This is a very nice looking shower valve hand trim kit. We had an old valve body that was limed up and allowed no flow from valve body to tub spout. I purchased this along with a replacement valve body, a plumber was going to do the valve body replacement and leave me with a bathroom tile remodeling job. I'll share this tip with anyone who might care, white vinegar is your friend. I got cold feet, and before turning the plumber loose I decided to try to open up the old valve. I removed the tub spout and shower head, plugged the tub spout with a rubber stopper, and filled the shower line, valve body and cartride with white vinegar using a vinyl tube and funnel. I let this sit for about 5 days, removed the stopper, and now the valve body works like new. This was a LOT cheaper and easier than the plumbing and remodeling jobs I was looking at. I used ordinary white vinegar, the kind with nutrition information that you can use to make salad dressing. I didn't fool around with cleaning vinegar or anything stronger that might risk damaging plastic and/or rubber parts.

This was the finishing touch on our bathroom remodel. Very stylish and easy to adjust. Well made with good materials. Highly Recommended.

If you are used to installing these, it's a snap. If not, there are complete installation instruction included with the product. There are no graduations on the unit to show where you have set the handle when using it, you just have to go by feel to see if the water is at a temperature to your liking. I haven't had any problems with the product since installation. So far, it is a solid 5 stars.
