I Love My Pen
My first Fountain pen, the Hongdian Black Forest has been by my side for nearly two years on at this point. It has also very much been my favorite pen, only recently being challenged by another more expensive model. It has a nice, premium feeling metal construction, with minimal feedback ("scratchy" sensation), and the EF nib is very well behaved writing on many different kinds of paper and with several different kinds of ink. (Hongdian Black, Noodler's Aircorps Blue Black) I've never had it skip until it's basically out of ink.I would place it as one of the more "dry" pens I've accumulated in the years since I bought this one.It also has a very tight line. It's more well behaved on the cartridges than a box of off-brand F-size pens I picked up, which run heavy with that ink. It should behave well with lubricated and wet-running inks, but I could see it misbehaving or running too dry on inks known to run dry or light. The broader nibs will lay down more ink than the absolutely tiny EF of mine, of course.I bought my mom a set for her birthday and it very quickly became her favorite pen too!Now for the long term review. It's held up surprisingly well for a pen this affordable. The original converter broke within a few months. Buy spares when you get the pen.The paint finish has developed a distinctive (and IMHO attractive) patina where me carrying it around all day every day for nearly two years has worn parts of it off.The lid no longer securely attaches to the pen. It can drop off while I'm carrying it and severely stain my pants' pocket. It is also leaking air substantially enough that the Hongdian Black cartridges I'm currently using with it will start drying out if I don't use it for a while. (Easy solution, just use it more.)Although I think part of that is because the cartridges are heavily pigmented already and vulnerable to drying.Parts are available. You can buy a kit of nib sections and a kit of converters pretty inexpensively.Though since the pen itself is so inexpensive it's up to you when you want to repair it or replace it as it wears and ages.Given I haven't found an easy way to fix the loose cap, I may have to finally cave and replace my beloved pen.

Love, love, love it!
I bought 2 pens to try out and this one has become my everyday pen. It flows nice. The weight is great. Refilling is a breeze, I don't swap out cartridges, I refill the one it came with. My hand doesn't hurt and my hand and wrist don't become fatigued easily when I use it. My only wish would be that the pen be a little fatter. This would help even more with hand and wrist fatigue and be great for people like me that have had issues with carpel tunnel before or who have arthritis but still want to use an amazing pen like this one. I have both of those things and while it makes me want to reach for my Dr G pen I don't because I just love this pen that much. I just take more breaks. I will be buying the next size up in nib however as the extra fine feels like it will rip standard, everyday paper. That or maybe it's just the harsh scratching that makes me think that. Either way I think the ink flow would also be better with the larger nib. Still by far my favorite pen!

Great value, better for the planet
Writes great and is truly an extra fine tip. Easy to fill, and doesn't dry as long as you keep the cap on when not using it and if you do leave the cap off too long it doesn't take much to get the ink flowing again. The pen is metal so it does have some weight to it I love it, but if you are used to light weight plastic pens this might be an issue. I have both the black and rainbow pens, the black one does have some paint rubbing off around where the cap and tip come off and on. The rainbow one does not have that issue it is not painted. I like the refillable converter for bottled ink, because I write a lot everyday and was using about 2 or 3 of the Uni-Ball 207 pens a month. They don't have a refill for the ultra micro tip and even if they did that is still a lot of plastic waste. I would definitely buy again even with he paint rubbing off on the black one.

Far Better than the Price Suggests
I like fountain pens and up to this point I have only used higher-end pens that cost a small fortune but are very fine instruments. After reading others' reviews on this one I decided to take a chance on it and bought two during the Prime Day event this year. This is one of the better pen purchases I have made. This is a metal barrel pen and I like the feel of it in my hand. It reminds me of a tactical pen that I have, only a lot less bulky and lightweight. It is a balanced instrument and it is not hard to hold while writing.I selected the extra-fine nib version because I need the finer point for detailed writing that is inappropriate for medium nib pens. It writes almost as finely as my favorite 0.5mm mechanical pencil - not quite, but close. The writing is very smooth and easy and I have had no issues with drips, globs or stutters. This pen comes only with the converter and this is just fine with me. I prefer a pen I can refill versus using cartridges. The cartridge is easy to fill and does require a small amount of maneuvering if you're not used to this process but it's not hard at all. For those that prefer the convenience of pre-filled cartridges, there are cartridges available. This is an inexpensive fountain pen (under $20 as I write this) but it is made well - better than could reasonably be expected at the price point. There's no gap in the tip between the nib and the plastic portion of the pen, the clip is very tight (almost too tight, to be fair), and when unscrewing the pen body to access the converter is unscrews smoothly without feeling like it's grinding or shaving itself.I am very happy with this pen. I'll be buying a couple more.

Not so great
The product is certainly overrated. Seller offers cash back for writing positive reviews. I fell for the reviews and ordered straight nib pen. To be honest, I did not find it worth the price. Pen is good for sure but certainly no where close to competitors. In fact I am overwhelmed with the quality of Amazon basic fountain pen which I got at 1/4th price.

A worthy investment
If you love writing, this is the way to go. Have been using premium pens for a while to confirm this pen gives more bang for the buck.Buy it with your eyes closed.

Fantastic Purchase and Performance all in One
I had ordered a bamboo fountain pen from another retailer here and as nice as the pen was, it was a waste of money since I cannot order a replacement nib. Therefore I ordered this great pen.It comes with a fine nib in which I usually prefer a medium nib but it writes amazingly well with the fine and the medium isn't necessary at all. The pen doesn't blot ink during use, writes smoothly without any skipping, scratching or bleeding on the paper. The pen is surprisingly heavy, which I prefer and it comes across more as tactical/military style pen than a pretty boy luxury pen style. Its perfect for a mens fountain pen definitely, one I would highly recommend for anyone to buy or for a wife/girlfriend to purchase for their man. I would most certainly buy another for a back up writer, it's a solid 5/5 rating.

Good value
The pen is a bit light for my liking and the grip section is a bit short making the pen strange to hold but it will likely be fine with smaller handed individuals. Nib is good quality for the price and writes smoothly. Get decent ink to avoid obstructions and drying in the nib after sitting overnight.

Finally, a proper fine nib that doesn't scratch!
If you're on the edge for this pen - get it. I've had a bunch of fountain pens, nothing crazy expensive, but probably everything from the $10 to around the $150. Fine nibs always seem to scratch the paper, or do not flow properly, and the larger nibs I often end up turning upside down to I can write as fine as I want. This pen finally has the balance! Flow is great. Line thickness just right. It doesn't feel as amazing as some pens I've had (I like heavy and thick) but this still feels like quality. Good click to the cap. (Stationery nerds - you know what I mean.)Oh, and matte black = super cool.Highly recommend.
