The Vision Bar Omega-3 1000 is a food for special dietary use for individuals with or susceptible to Dry Eye. Vision Bars supply certain organic ingredients and nutrients, such as omega-3 fatty acids, identified by Doctors of Optometry that may help moderate certain types of Dry Eye. The Vision Bar was formulated by Doctors of Optometry. The formulation reflects these four observations which have been made in various studies* concerning Dry Eye. •Certain foods can be beneficial to Dry Eye and aid the digestion of omega-3. •Omega-3 can be beneficial to Dry Eye. Effective daily doses range from 500 mg to 2,240 mg. (The Vision Bar contains more than 1,000 mg of omega-3.) •Marine based omega-3 in the triglyceride form is more fully digested (bioavailable) than plant based omega-3 such as from flax seed. (The Vision Bar's omega-3 is triglyceride form.) •Beneficial components in omega-3 include EPA and DHA. Effective ratios of EPA to DHA range from 3:1 to 3:2. (The Vision Bar omega-3 ratio is 3:1, i.e. approximately 75% EPA and 25% DHA.) The Vision Bar contains more than 70 percent organic ingredients. The only ingredients in the bar which are not organic are the omega-3 and the ascorbic acid (vitamin C). The omega-3 is not organic because it is made in a scientific process which microencapsulates fish oil so that it lasts longer and does not taste fishy. The Vision Bar is gluten free, very low in sodium with only 5 mg, cholesterol free, transfat free, high in fiber and contains all kosher ingredients.
