High quality and no battery required.
Several years ago I purchased an old CD 750 dosimeter charger and (3) 200 Roentgen dosimeters that were tested for function and/or calibrated from a well known, trusted supplier in Texas. After sitting in storage for some years, the old battery powered charger/reader would no longer function. It just gave up the ghost. The light bulb worked and that was about it. It was totally useless and outdated. I now had 3 dosimeters that I could no longer use. Then I found out about the new updated Charger!I really liked the fact that no batteries were required. No 1950's era circuit board components to wear out such as 60 year old capacitors. It's a bit pricey but well worth it in terms of quality and reliability.Used by FEMA.The US no longer has a civil defense program or fallout shelters for it's citizens. We're on our own. This charger is very easy to use. A child can operate it and obtain readings. It has a good feel to it and does not come across as cheap junk when you handle it. I strongly recommend this charger. I have no regrets spending over $200 for this.S.E. International did a nice job on this charger. It charges smoothly when the lever is pulled and the discharge feature, if you go too far, is slow and smooth as well allowing a nice easy and accurate zeroing of the dosimeter scale. I love this tool! I think you will too.

Cheap copy of the real thing...
Don't waste you money. The old civil defense style CDV-750 5b box chargerers work just as well and you can get them for around $10. The modern FEMA dosimeter charger CDV-750 m6 (which is exactly the same as this one) can be found on Ebay for $50, not $400.
