Retro Electric Hot Water Kettle with Speed Boil Tech, Bpa-Free, 1.8, Stainless Steel, Black

Initially I got a kettle that had chipped paint (see pic) and the metal coating on the spout part was slightly bubbled (only visible upon close inspection). I thought the chipped paint was dust, but nope I tried cleaning it and it was chipped paint. So I requested an exchange and got a new kettle in the next couple of days, and it was perfect. The box was taped and packaged differently than the first one, so I suspect that first one was a return of a used kettle. I really like the aesthetic of this kettle, especially for the price! The lid is a little hard to remove because it's right under the handle, but not too cumbersome. It's still easy enough to do everyday, I just try to be careful because I don't want to accidentally scratch anything because I like how it looks so much lol. It also heats up water hotter than my old kettle did, and the temperature gauge is handy.

We are quite pleased with this kettle. It is attractive and heats water well. Allow me to mention that the silver lid is only cosmetic. It does not come off. You fill the pot through the spout. It's no biggie but it was surprising that the lid could not be removed.

This is such a cute retro looking water kettle but the way it's made is awful. I've had this kettle for 8 months now. Pros: - I love the vintage retro look and it looks great next to my Frigidaire toaster on my counter. - There's a temperature gauge on the front. Cons: - The outside of the kettle is metal, so be careful touching it as it gets hot when the water is boiling. - The top opening makes it hard to clean the inside of the kettle. - The temperature gauge has a sharp point, so when cleaning the inside be careful not to poke yourself. - If you have hard water, calcium will build up and will get caught in the netted spout. - If you leave water to sit in the kettle, water will leak out from the bottom and onto your counter. (See photo) I wanted to love this piece so much. My husband wanted me to return it within the first 90 days but I held on to hope. Now after 8 months, I hate it. I will calling the manufacturer after this in hopes of a refund. I definitely would not get this again and I definitely do not recomend this kettle for anyone... unless they fix some of the flaws.

The Frigidaire manufacturer needs to update the description, as this does not whistle. We tried many different ways to get it to, the lid is on tight, it does not whistle. I'm pretty bummed. I noticed in the question and answer section in this listing someone asks if it whistles and the manufacturer replies no. I was hoping it did whistle so my blind son could hear it. I thought that would be cool. So heads up, it doesn't. I hope the manufacturer or Amazon removes that from the description. My kettle arrived with scratches all over it, and the paint missing inside the scratches. It was sent to me in the manufacturer's box with the label on it. Not sealed. Not protected in another box. This box is too flimsy to be shipped in that manner. It is nice being able to see the thermometer and watch it rise on the outside. Also I was able to fill it into the spout from the outside of my fridge's water dispenser, by putting it under and using my hand to press the fridge water thingy, it is doable and easy to do that way, in case you were wondering. I could not fill it through the lid access with my fridge water, it just could not reach it that way. The paint part that was not scratched is a real pretty deep red. It is apparently a thin coat of paint, not sure how long that will last, since it arrived scratched. It seems to take longer to heat up than my old electric pot, BUT it heats up a lot hotter, making my tea taste really rich. A much improved taste, probably because it's at optimal temperature. So that's a plus. The handle is cushioned and comfortable to hold and pouring was really nice and easy. Way better than my previous kettle. I haven't had it long enough to comment on how well it holds up. If I'm able to, I'll update later in the year. Lately I noticed Amazon is making it harder for us to return or see our reviews for updates.

I purchased two of these for my elderly mother and I. We both love to drink our hot tea and feel that it is safer and more convenient to use this product to heat our water! Also perfect for instant oatmeal or hot chocolate! Can’t believe I went so long without it!!!!

Worked well for almost a year, using it multiple times a day. Very handy. Wish it was still working though.

Love this kettle. Looks retro but us extra fast to boil. Perfect!
