Wold this work on a Ruger 44 Carbine?

It is more than strong enough for a 44 MAG. I have these on ALL my hunting rifles. From 22LR to 45-70. But you will need to make sure it's for your gun.

Will this work on the ruger american rimfire rifles, if not which, if any, dnz mount will fit it? (22 mag rifle).

No this is a one piece base that attaches straight to the top of the receiver.
