This is what Emotion Sounds Like
I'm going to keep this short. This is a wonderful album. Not only is it atmospheric and gorgeous, something to be expected of Baths if you've heard his first album Cerulean (and if you haven't, what are you doing? Go get it right now), but it is an emotional collection that is more real than anything I've heard in a long time. Miasma Sky is easily my favorite track on the album and the lyrical content couple with the emotional and raw delivery really cuts through. Meanwhile, the piano and string introduction of Ironworks is gorgeous and moving. Baths has a sound all to himself and anyone who's listened to tracks like Lovely Bloodflow knows this very well. That hasn't changed here with Obsidian, and though it has a much darker and eerie feeling compared to the more airy and carefree Cerulean with tracks like Aminals, the quintessential sound that we all know and love is intact. It's a true testament to the talent and songwriting that went into it and is a perfect example of why Obsidian is such a success. It's powerful but lighthearted. It's electronic but organic. It's depressing but uplifting all on its own. It's audible emotion, as all good music should strive to be, and I adore it.

but I do not think fans would say a good introduction to the band
My introduction into Baths was the track "Earth Death". The sound was so new to me, and I could not get enough of it. I promptly looked into the band, and discovered Will's Junior album, Obsidian, that "Earth Death" was featured on.This album is such an interesting listen, but I do not think fans would say it is a good introduction to the band. I disagree with that statement, because Obsidian is an intelligent record to me. Will's voice is soothing, and when layered, he can do amazing things. (I noticed this when watching him preform some of the songs in Obsidian live.) The lyrics are between thought inducing and shocking (sometimes depressing), and he sings them in an almost joyful way.I definitely recommend this album to anyone who is interested in or enjoys IDM, Glitch, and Electronic.

Loving the album; but..
I'm not going to go in depth about the music; go to Pitchfork or something for that. I'll just say that I've only listened to it about 3 times so far; and so far its definitely ranking up in my top albums this year; along with Run the Jewels, Dark Clock , Wondrous Bughouse , Kyarypamyupamyu - Nandacollection (CD+DVD) [Japan LTD CD] WPZL-30633 , Mr. MFN eXquire's mixtape Kismet, With Love , and Hokey Fright (Deluxe Version) [Explicit] [+digital booklet ] to name a few. It's an awesome album, listen to a sample and if you dig; support him and give it a shot!I bought this on vinyl though; and my copy is slightly warped, it causes slightly messy playback in the first 20 seconds of the first track on disc 1; which isn't a big deal at all; but on side two it makes the first 30 seconds or so completely unplayable.I've also had this problem with the Sufjan Stevens album Age of Adz. Bought it at my local record store and returned it the same day. they ordered my a new copy. When I finally got the new copy it had the same problem! So this kind of warp (if its even a warp, almost seems like a 'lump' in the vinyl) could be a problem with the pressings. I'm not extremely experienced with vinyl records so maybe someone who is has input on that...Just warning those buying vinyl that there might be a problem with this batch Amazon has, its not intolerable; but a definite annoyance for any music lover or audiophile.

Phenomenal
I had never even heard of Baths until a week ago when Amazon recommended it to me. I sampled a few tracks and knew immediately that it was worth purchasing. From the very first listen, I was captivated. Every track just oozes with genuine, heartfelt melancholy, angst, and agony. I cannot stop listening to it. I have probably played it through in its entirety over 20 times in the week since I purchased it. This will surely be one of my top 5 albums of 2013, and probably one of my favorite albums of all time.

Nice work!
I am enjoying this album. There is a rich layering of sounds that I find very engaging. The lyrics are dark, that would be my one caveat for other purchasers.

Mix up on my part.
I thought this was the vinyl version of this album and I ended up buything the CD. Fast Delivery and a great CD nonetheless! I tried returning it to amazon, but they told me to keep it and refunded my money! Just because I am a frequent shopper! :D

Cerulean's Haunting, Darker Cousin
This is one of my favorite albums. Although I enjoyed Baths before, in this album it is clear he has grown up a lot both musically and mentally.

Upbeat Music With Dark Lyrics
I probably wouldn't have purchased this on vinyl, but it was on sale for $8! I'm not sure Vinyl is the best medium for this pure electronic music, but it sounds good when I have listened to it. Just be aware, there is a lot of simulated noise, scratches, pops, slowdowns and speed ups in the actual album. If you aren't expecting them you will think your turntable is busted or your copy of the LP is messed up!
