The Ohio State Reformatory (Images of America)

What a terrific book. With the photos, the reader get a first hand knowledge of the early prison reform system. Very easy read for those not wanting to devote long lengths of time on one subject. I would also suggest a tour of the Mansfield Reformatory. Sensational!

Since I had a relative who actually worked there from 1909 to 1947, on the administrative staff as a teacher to the inmates, when is more of a reform school, than a prison. I have a different perspective of the place than most other people do.

I visited the site in late May. I wanted a book to learn the back history & to remind me of the tour.

Great book, really informative and interesting. Found out a lot I didn’t know.If you know story of OSR through movies, this will give you more of what you didn’t know.

I love reading about all things history in America. This was an interesting read.
