Great classic!
This completed my last prompt for MG March-read a book published in the decade you were born. This is also the 1st Roald Dahl book I’ve ever read-unless I did when I was little & don’t remember. I also haven’t seen the movie in a very long time, so it was almost all new to me. I really loved this! Especially this edition, full of absolutely beautiful illustrations that match the stunning cover by Sarah Walsh. They really brought the story beautifully to life. I absolutely loved this little girl! Her love for reading, her politeness & smarts w/o being conceited-so charming! I also love the plotting against those who have wronged her side too lol Along, w/doing what’s right & honesty. I couldn’t stand her horrible parents or that evil Trunchbull! The things she says & does to these kids! & nobody stops her! I was kind of taken aback at 1st, but it’s fiction & of course she gets what’s coming to her..& b/c of how horrible she was it actually made that part even more satisfying. I’ve seen people complain about her part in the book, that’s it’s not realistic & would never happen..you’re right..this is a BOOK. Lol There was 1 part I didn’t like, & it’s a complete personal issue, & it’s my religion/faith. It’s the part in the book where Ms. Honey compares something Matilda does to Jesus by saying if Matilda had done what she says “then it is just about the greatest miracle a person has ever performed since the time of Jesus.”-I didn’t care for that. Lol W/my faith I don’t think ANYTHING/ANYONE, not even magic, can compare to Him. Like I said, just that 1 part, & I know it’s a personal thing. It didn’t feel right saying nothing, even though it’s 1 line, when it did bother me. Otherwise, I absolutely adored this. I’m going to watch the movie so I can see how it compares. Really looking forward to reading more of his books now! I read 38 books in March, so it definitely WAS MG March all the way!😆Thanks to Amanda(The Curly Reader), Katie(Life Between Words), & Krista(BooksandJams) for hosting such an amazing readathon!💜

Beautiful illustrations
If you are looking at this most likely you already know the story of Matilda and you are looking for the copy the will find a forever place in your home or a gift for someone. Look no further. The illustrations in this are striking and bold without being overwhelming and chaotic. They compliment the story perfectly and really draw you into the book. My 7 year old can’t put it down. I took the book off her bed the other day to put away on her bookshelf and she cried thinking her beloved copy of Matilda was lost. If you are looking for the perfect copy of a classic book this is the one for you.

Beautiful Deluxe Edition
This books is so beautiful!!! That makes the story even better. Matilda is itself a most have story for children, but this ilustrated edition is really special. I found it in our local library, our kid loved it and we had to have it. She is being in love with the story and this book since then. I'm sure that it would have been a different story with the non ilustrated editions.

Wife Loves It
Good book, with nice illustrations. My wife is a big fan of this book series and the movie. I've read it a couple of times with the kids and they seem to enjoy it as well.
