Great first foam roller
I bought the foam roller as a companion to my Soma System massage therapy ball set. I had aches and pain in my lower back which my massage ball set addressed, but I had used a foam roller before and I didn't get the same therapeutic sensation from the balls alone. This foam roller is excellent for my needs because it's easy to use and great for a quick rolling session. I've been using it in the morning with my massage balls, but when I'm in a rush I just use the foam roller which takes less than 2 minutes for my muscles to feel less tense.Other positives is that it's super light and portable (it's not one of those long foam rollers) and softer than the ones that are usually in the gym, which I prefer. It's a great first foam roller for someone who wants to try it out because the softness won't hurt your back, but it's hard enough and has enough spring to work your muscles. It would be advisable to take care of it as the material is soft foam and dents easily.

still too hard
Painful when I use it...Perhaps it helps but I really can not see or,feel , that it increases my flexibility . Trying to alleviate pain in yoga positions...Been doing Yoga for many years but as my body is aging I hoped the roller would make it easier. And not need to get PT...Still working on it.

Roller is Okay, but Video Not Worth the Money.
The roller is fine, but the accompanying 3-hour video is a disappointment and I wish I hadn't spent the extra money for it. AND -- my mistake -- I didn't expect the video to be on You Tube. I don't have space to exercise in front of my computer! The video is a low-budget production with terrible echo-y sound, and you can hardly see the demonstrations. The first example takes place behind a folding chair in the dark background. Very unprofessional. Sorry.

welcome to the world's smallest foam roller.
welcome to the world's smallest foam roller. i mean, i wouldn't say that it's a bad thing. it's about the size of my upper arm, and it's incredibly light. in this sense, it's quite packable for travel. it's also a tad squishy, which i find is a benefit versus my existing hardcore rumble roller and my firm full-sized foam roller -- for days when i decide to be kind to myself and take it down a notch. which i admit is not every day, and probably not as often as could otherwise happen. having the option available is nice! and as with all soma products, tutorials and suggested exercises are available online as included with the purchase, which are invaluable for first-time foam rollers (this will change your life) and those looking for new tips and tricks. glad to have this in the arsenal. but as you may have already realized, i don't really have a limit to my self-massage tool collecting. it makes me happy. that's fine with me.

good feel
I like the smaller 4 inch size and the fact that this gives a little and is not like rolling on solid cement.

SOMA Foam roller is versatile and effective
I love that this foam roller has a smaller diameter than the standard foam roller and its short length makes it both portable and usable for different types of muscle release exercises. I have been teaching Pilates for several years and all of my clients, and myself, have muscle and fascia tension in some part of our bodies. I’ve tried different techniques for myofascial release and I have found SOMA System’s products to be very effective and versatile. One of my favorite uses for the small foam roller is as a head support when lying on the floor. Standard foam rollers are too big to be a head support. This roller is a perfect height for resting the head and allowing the neck to stretch. I can move my head up and down and let the roller move under it to help ffurther with release of tension in the neck. It is a great tool for rolling under the back and legs too.
