Body & Soul 15 Years celebrates the NYC party that is Francois K, Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell and Danny Krivit. Body & Soul was born out of wanting to do something different from the clubs that were being filled in Manhattan every week. British promoter John Davis approached Francois about doing a party modelled on the London afterhours style, starting Sunday morning when the other clubs had shut. The party was to be in a warehouse in a corner of lower Manhattan that still, in those days, hadn’t been developed. Club Vinyl, as it was known, would become an integral part of Body & Soul.

Good but not as good as others in series
Some decent tracks, but because of copyright stuff, some tracks not properly mixed which lets the listening experience down big time (they would not be doing this in the club after all). If it comes down to under a tenner then buy it, otherwise put your money towards vol. 2 which is the best one of the lot (although this may be a little biased due to the pre-release of this coincideing with FK coming to Manchester in 1999 to play at the electic chair and then going on to play at an after party before he flew back to NY). He gave a copy of vol. 2 to a friend and we played in on repeat a few times during a long weekend of partying.

Not Right
...Mixed by Joe Claussell, Francois K and Danny Krivit. Cool, great. Only it's not. Not at all. Yes there's some stunning tracks, a whole bunch of them in fact, and far removed from the club classics camp. But listen to the 'mixing', aurally observe the overlays. Marvel at the DJs expertise at blending two tracks together for all of ten seconds. Wow. Now read the small print, the inlay card. The critical info is down at the very end. Doesn't it always pay to read towards the end? Not this time sucker - ''Certain songs could not be mixed for more than 10 seconds due to stipulations from the owners''. I felt ripped off. Well, in a mild way.
