Great for infants, toddlers or preschoolers
I have several of these "My First" card sets and I think this is my favorite. These cards seem to be marketed towards infants and toddlers but I think they really work well for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. I think it all depends on what you do with the cards. I work with infants and toddlers that have developmental delays and I love these cards. Here is what I really like about these cards:- Size - the cards are 4.25 inches by 7 inches. They are a great size for little hands to hold so they really feel like the size of a book.- Quality - the cards are a very thick cardboard.- Picture - the picture is like a photograph so it's a real animal not a drawing or clip art. This is probably for me one of the most important features. Infants and toddlers sometimes have a hard time recognizing drawings the same way they do real pictures. I try as much as possible to use pictures and books of real photographs versus drawings.- Texture - Each of these cards has some sort of texture or something different about them. Some have fur, hair, bumps or sparkles. This gives kids a whole other sensory experience when using the cards and also holds attention of young ones.- Variety - this set comes with 16 different cards. Here is a list of animals in this set - monkey, cow, puppy, sheep, elephant, crab, tiger, rabbit, dolphin, kitten, parrot, zebra, turtle, duck, horse, and fish.- Back of the card - One nice thing about these cards is the information on the back of the card. On the back it has the name of the animal, some questions to ask and ways to say monkey in other languages. These can be some nice hints for parents, caregivers, etc... who might need some help with how to use the cards. You will have to vary this for different ages and different developmental skills. With some of the kids I see, I might just say the name of the animal and the sounds they make and others we might talk about colors and how the animal feels.Box - so sometimes it's the small things that make a difference. The fact that these cards come in a box that Velcro's shut was a huge plus. I carry them with me in their box and it keeps them from getting lost, etc...I have to say in this set, the favorite so far among kids has been the monkey. He has long hair that kids seem to love touching. I love the ones that have a lot of texture because these can be great to use with kids with vision impairments. They can feel the texture.I am extremely pleased with this set of cards. Kids seem to love them!

Helped my non-verbal toddler!!
My son is barely 2 years old and has speech delays. He can't even say 'mom' yet. That led me to order any sort of learning tools I could think of to help him before starting speech therapy.I've had these a month or so now and feel like I've had a good amount of time using them to give a solid review. I'm going to give it 5 stars, and here's why:1. Packaging is thick, sturdy and has a Velcro closure2. The price is fantastic for what you receive3. The bright colors and fun textures on the cards strike interest kids of all ages4. On the back of each card are questions to ask the child once simply naming the animal on the picture is too easy5. The cards themselves are very thick, rigid and can withstand a good beating.I do daycare (and other children come to play) and have kids ages 6 months to 10 years spend lots of times using the cards. The older kids made games out of them including a weird version of 'go fish'. I've had a baby munch on the corner of a couple cards and they didn't get all soggy and tear because they're so thick. My rambunctious 2 year old hasn't managed to bend any of the cards yet, while our 'Baby Einstein discovery cards' are mostly bent so badly that you cannot see some of the pictures. My son now name 3 of the animals, can make the noises that most of them make, and can find a specific animal in the stack if I name one. That is amazing progress! The day after getting these cards, i ordered the 'first words' set by the same company, and while they are good, we definitely prefer the animals.

Great Flashcards!
These cards are made of a very nice heavy weight cardboard. They are definitely some of the strongest/stiffest flashcards I've come across. The touch and feel aspect of these is great and really help to make these cards more interactive. I really like the questions on the back of each flashcard. None of the questions are exactly amazing, "never would have thought of that" type questions, but being a mom of a toddler has certainly scrambled my brain and these guides really help. It also lists the name of each animal in 4 different foreign languages on the back. Cool. My son is not so interested in these yet, but I can tell that they will grow with him. Fabulous cards and definitely worth the price. I'm very happy with this product.

Muy buenas tarjetas, muy resistentes, con dibujos bonitos y actividades a realizar con los niños, a mi bebé de 9 meses le gusta traerlas en sus manitas y observarlas, le sirven ahorita y le serviran ya que este mas grande.

Good quality, fun and engaging!
We have a few different sets including the animals set. I purchased these cards initially to help my son with his speech and get him interested in trying to say words. He loves these cards! They are a great size, very good quality and my son was drawn to them due to the interactive aspect. Being able to touch the card and hear me say the word, helped him make those connections and has helped encourage him to say the words. My son's speech is well on it's way now but he still loves playing with the cards and now he shows me the pictures and tells me what they are and describes how they feel. There is just enough leftover space in the box to make it easy for younger kids to put all the cards back in after they are done by themselves, and my son really enjoyed that part too!

A must have learning resource
The best flash cards on the market. Very thick and withstand toddler damage more than thinner cards. Little girl loves animals, especially dogs, and this set has broadened her awareness of different animals. Touchy feely bits are a real hit, and the cards are bright and attractive. A must have learning resource! Only gripe is the Americanisation of the language in this series, but less so with this particular set of cards.
