Ontario Knife BSH Machete Sheath Knife, 18-Inch, Black (8280)

In case of Zombie apocalypse- or home invasion. This is very well made. I keep it on my boat (in my bed with me at night) Salt water environment. Have had it almost a year and not a trace of rust on it. Handle has a great feel in my smallish female hand, its not too heavy to swing but has enough heft when coming around that it should do some major damage (or at least scare them away!) if I am threatened. I am not using this to cut down brush or through thick logs so can't speak to long term usage in harsh environment but for my purposes and the price I am extremely happy. I am also extremely happy I have never had to use it yet. I picked up a cover for it that slides off easily but protects me and wherever I set it down.

I use this sheath with my Ontario 18” saw-back machete. For the money, I’m amazed at the build quality of this sheath. This sheath is a quality product. The nylon webbing of the belt loop is 1-7/8” wide and the belt loop opening is 4” tall. The inside of the sheath (the part of the sheath that comes in contact with the machete) is NOT nylon. The inside of the sheath is some kind of tough smooth plastic (or plastic coated) material. When drawing my saw-back machete, I’m very careful not to snag the sheath. The saw-back side of the machete will saw into this sheath and/or snag on the sheath if you draw a saw-back machete out of this sheath with no regard. Drawing a machete without a saw-back out of this sheath would cause little to no wear and tear to the sheath. This sheath will outlast my machete. This sheath is worth every penny.

All things considered not a bad machete sheath. Fits the OKC machete well, fairly well constructed at a good price. I haven't had the sheath long enough to judge if it will hold up over time, but for the price I have no complaints. You can buy better sheaths, but I doubt you can buy a better sheath for the money.

Let me start by saying: I have not taken this sheath or the machete (the one made for it) out into the backwoods or anything but they both have seen decent use. The sheath has been on my belt while I mow (with machete in of course), and in other gardening use, and I have yet to see any issues or wear. The tip of the sheath's reinforcement strip was not sowed to the end, but that could be fixed with a spot of glue.In the way of ergonomics, the belt strap is long, so that the machete can be drawn with ease and the handle does not jab you.All-in-all, it is tough and does not interfere with you. I would suggest strapping the end of it to your leg loosely if it bounces too much.

I got this sheath for an Ontario 18 inch saw-back machete. I basically just wanted something to store the machete in to protect other items from the edge, such as while under the seat of a truck. The sheath is well made with double stitching and five stress rivets. The machete slides in and out easily. The belt loop is well attached, but I can't say the machete rides very well from the belt (pretty floppy, but about what one would expect from a blade of this length). For my purposes, it is a nice product.

Exactly what I wanted for clearing brush. Very sturdy with a thick blade.

I purchased this thinking that it was a knife and a sheath, but was mistaken when I got the package. It is a durable looking product and does fit the subsequent knife that I had to order. I only wish that the description would of made it a little more clear that you are only getting the sheath and not the knife.
