A product so nice, I bought it twice!
What a deal! For such a low price these can't be beat. I needed a vent cover to deflect the AC off my feet at my new desk. Even closing the vent there was still enough cold air to make my feet freeze. Then I found this great product! It's very thin plastic and expandable to fit a variety of vent sizes so I wasn't sure if it would really help. But it's great! It essentially deflects the air away from my cold feet but still provides air conditioning for the room. A true win win! I was so excited with the results that I purchased a second one for a vent under a cabinet. It keeps the air flowing into the room and away from the cabinet. Great product at an affordable price. The magnets aren't very strong so I don't recommend these for walls or ceilings unless you plan to secure them better, but for floor vents these are great! Go ahead and buy it.

but that aside it works great. I have a AC vent high up on ...
Does exactly what it is supposed to. The plastic is thick, but still feels a bit flimsy. but that aside it works great. I have a AC vent high up on the wall and the way the air was blowing it was straight into my face, giving me sore throats! I put this on, and not the air flows more downward, still keeps the room almost cooler honestly, but not blowing straight in my face anymore. It easy, you just adjust it to fit, and magnet it on there with the strong magnets and that's it. I had one years ago and I can attest to them keeping a room far warmer in winter by keeping the heat from rising as much also. For the price you can't beat it!

Works for Ceiling Register but may not be for everyone
Im giving this 4 stars because it does about what you expect from a cheap piece of plastic. However, there are some potential problems.I purchased this to solve the issue of a poorly positioned apartment ceiling vent blowing air directly in my face when I have my bed in any of the 3 possible configurations for my room. It does the job, but I'm not convinced it will: 1) fit all standard vents and 2) hold up to normal wear over a normal time span (say a year). At present, it does the job and it does it well. I faced some difficulty getting this device to hold to my vent as the magnets are tiny and are not well placed to work around vent screws that protrude. They may find even more issue with the lever to adjust airflow. YMMV. I was able to get it to stick by having it slightly off-center. This issue could easily be solved by more magnets. The other issue is for wider vents (I've never had one different size than mine in the dozen or so places I've lived, in multiple states) it may cause the two pieces to separate. Or at least sag at the overlap. My standard,or at least standard IMO vent is using up most of the width of this thingamajig. I'm too lazy to measure but it looks to be about 14ish inches wide, edge-to-edge. Again, YMMV.Finally many reviewers stated that the heat causes melting. I'm a vampire and my room remains a cool dark cave. In winter I close my vent completely. For the sake of the people of Amazon, I will leave the galldanged thing open and check to see if it melts. Planning on ordering another for the roomie anyway, so #itsforscience

Does it's job, finally cool wear I'm sitting.
It's a deflector... it deflects very well. It's clear a proper HVAC design is not as common as it should be. (Don't get me started on flex duct.)It's slides wide or narrow, which is great, because more narrow means more velocity and wider means better spread. On a powerful register this can easily blast you with air 20 feet away. This changed the whole dynamic of our AC, because if you have a vent right by the thermostat, your whole setup is a mess - not to mention efficiency concerns. As for the device itself, we've kicked it and partially stepped on it a few times and it's not broken yet, it claims to be indestructible, and so far that is true. Magnet can "scratch" the TARNISH off of old discolored registers, but I think that's more our registers than the item. The clear look is classy and unobtrusive, can definitely recommend. If you're anything like me and want your HVAC fine tuned, this is a must.

Works as advertised
After reading the slew of bad reviews this product has received I was apprehensive to buy one. Since the price was not too bad I decided to give one a shot.Upon receiving the deflector I attempted to test the magnetic strength as that was one of the largely disputed items. I was able easily and securely adhere the vent deflector to my refrigerator. The magnets held the deflector firmly in place sideways without sign of sliding. The vent deflector ultimately went on a ceiling vent. My vents are all painted so I was a little concerned but it did not appear to be an issue as the deflector has been firmly attached to the vent for a few weeks now. There are also screw holes pre drilled in the plastic to allow the deflector to be screwed to the vent for extra security. I did not feel the need to do so.It has been a fairly cold winter thus far and my deflector shows no signs of warping. I have checked it a few times to be sure but there are not any signs of the plastic deforming due to the heat coming from the vent. So far it is doing its job and deflecting the air where I want it.Another nice feature I like is the adjustable sizing. It easily resizes to meet the dimensions of the vent used. Overall I feel as if this was a good purchase for the money. I do not understand the other reviews claiming the magnets do not work. In the event the vent material does not allow the magnets to properly stick there are screw holes for such a contingency. As for warping it may be due to a change in materials used or certain households having a very aggressive HVAC system. I think their claim of “unbreakable” is a little overzealous but overall they work well.
