About the Author Marla Bronstein was born in Long Island, New York, and moved to the west coast as a child. She attended high school in southern California and went to college at UC Berkeley. She received a BA in Linguistics in 1979. Marla's favorite language was ASL, and for a short while entertained the thought of being a lawyer who specialized in serving the needs of the Deaf community. She became a paralegal and quickly discovered the life of a lawyer was not for her. 20 years later, Marla changed careers and finally dabbled in sign language interpreting, office administration, non-profit social service work, and finally, non-profit arts. For fun, she is involved in local community theater. She has acted, directed, stage managed, costumed, painted sets for and written scripts for, and received acting and directing awards for numerous short and full length plays. She did a very good job describing her own situation
This book is somewhat informative for those who have acoustic neuromas and don't know where to turn for info. She did a very good job describing her own situation, and the assistance she received from friends and family. It's interesting to see how others react and respond to this affliction.

Not What I Expected
I also had an Acoustic Neuroma and my experience was so much worse. I was really looking for someone who shared just a few of my reprocussions of the 3 craniotomies I had. I was looking for someone that shared some of the same feelings.

Help where least expected
I recently experienced a medical situation, and during that time I happened to read this book. While my experience was a drastically different one, I was surprised at how much this book helped me through it. Sometimes reading someone else's story makes you appreciate how much worse your won situation could be. Thank you to the author for being willing to share what she went through so eloquently.
