Perfect heavy leather punch perfect for belts.
I recently had weight loss surgery and since my wife wont let me buy new clothes and accissories like belts until I reach the level I expect I have had to keep wearing my old pants and using my old belts. Now I dont have cheap belts...they are hand made bull hide gun belts and I cant go out and buy new ones for now because of the pounds going away. I have 3 favorite belts to wear with my holsters and since march I have had to punch holes in them about every 5 weeks or so. The cheap hole punch I had wouldnt make it through the first layer. This punch goes through both fairly easily and with the different dies you can use round or oval vertical or horizontal to match your holes as they were when you bought it. Loosing 8 inches so far makes me looks silly when the belt end is flopping around. I use a belt clip to hold it down.

Just okay!
******I received this punch in exchange for an unbiased review******I am a leather worker with several years experience. I have tested and tried many brands of punches over the years and when given the opportunity to try this punch, I welcomed the chance.I liked the fact that the punch came with round and oval punches, and what appeared to be an ergonomic handle. However, to me, the handle just makes the tool more bulky and cumbersome. My first test was on 9-10 oz drum dyed vegetable tanned leather. 6 test punches and not one punched cleanly. I then tested the punch on 5-6 oz natural vegetable tanned leather and the punch performed significantly better, but still the clunky handle makes using the tool difficult, especially for small hands such as mine. What is least impressive about this tool, is the stamping pad. It is made of plastic and has a small sliver of brass in the center. After only a handful of punches, the brass piece is already severely marred and will not hold up very long for a leather worker such as myself, that uses my hand punch many, many times each day. They supplied an additional stamping pad with the punch, but a pure solid brass stamping pad would perform better, and probably out last the tool, but they opted for the cheaper option. If you are going to use this tool sporadically, then this may be the tool for you, but I have a successful leather business and this tool just won't cut it for me.

Works amazing. Bought another one for a smaller hole though because I do a lot of stud work.

Not a Bad Punch for the Money
I received the punch and was initially very impressed. I especially liked that it has both round and oblong punches. As others have mentioned, it does not take much pressure to punch holes. I used it on various pieces of scrap leather (3-9 oz veg tan and oil tan). Sometimes it cuts great other times not so well. I also noticed that the frame/handles seem to be bending/flexing, but this is not unusual for stamped steel frame punches. I am a serious hobbyist leather worker. I received this punch at a discount for an unbiased review.

Will need a new pad soon
The pad the punch presses on is not very sturdy.
