Horrible, horrible smell sinks into scarf from packaging, but after one wash it is a strong, amazing, organic cotton scarf.
That smell! It is horrible. It smells like something that didn't get dried all the way and then is left in a gym bag in a warm humid environment for a few days mixed with a bit of chemical. I contacted the seller and who explained it leaves their facility organic and never chemically treated, but as she was told by her manufacturer, "The contact of the plastic wrap with the paint on the packaging resulted in an unpleasant smell that penetrated inside the package." This left me confused on how to rate this nursing scarf. It's great (see below), but it left me with a few concerns, 1) if the smell is from a chemical reaction... is that dangerous?!, 2) if I recommended this at 5 stars and someone bought it for a shower I would feel forever guilty (most awkward shower moment ever... actually it could be funny if you want a good ice breaker), 3) if I opened this package when my mother-in-law or any judgemental friend was over I would be horrified. So for the smell alone, I am taking away 2 stars. That said, after one wash the smell was completely gone (I washed it a few more times out of pure paranoia regarding the unknown chemical reaction.I'm assuming this problem will eventually be rectified. The response to my initial inquiry was apologetic and friendly, but did not mention any attempts/plans to fix the problem. I replied for more information and can get back to you (or welcome a response on this review); however, if there is no urgent push to stop shipping until the manufacturer problem is fixed or attempts made to forewarn customers and make amends it raises some concerns. Now for the quality of the scarf itself. The cotton is soft, thicker than most in a good way, and sturdy. It has just a tiny bit of stretch to it that allows for comfortable mini-movements, but still offers plenty of support. The seam connecting the two fabric ends to make the circle is obvious on the inside (which if worn as an infinity scarf can be easily visible), but I actually consider this a positive as it proves the strength and durability of the product. The pattern is adorable, but only one side: when nursing this is easy to conceal, but if wearing loosely or doubled over as an infinity scarf it looks awkward.I plan on updating my review with some photos and after a few days have passed to allow me to forget about the negative opening experience and move on to the positive experience of owning a quality, organic, zero chemical nursing scarf. Either way I will be following up several times so feel free to ask questions.I received this product at a discount for my unbiased review and am happy I can sincerely recommend for you to use, not to give as a gift.

Useful/nice nursing cover, but don't gift before washing.
I received this product at a discount for my honest review.Cons: (because as so many have pointed out, it is the first thing you notice). IT SMELLS HORRIBLE. It has a strong chemical smell when you open the package and even the box smells! That is concerning and weird for something labeled organic. I had to throw immediately in the washing machine...I didn't even want to leave it in the hamper in my bedroom. That said, the smell came out with the first wash and it was fine. I would have no problem with this if purchased for myself, but would not want to give as a gift smelling like that! Wash first and repackage if you gift this item!Size: is works well for me as I am a S/M shirt size, but it does wrap around and if I were already a plus size, I don't think I would have enough movement to maneuver baby to latch while covered. Something to consider if you are full-figured.Pros:Functionality: I have used this shape of nursing scarf in the past and I do think that it works well to cover baby so they can't flap their way out easily. I rarely used a nursing cover but there were certainly places I felt like being more discrete made me more comfortable, so this scarf works well to cover baby, and you can position over shoulder yet still peak yourself from the side with the uncovered shoulder. It works better for coverage then the front only apron style. Second, it has a little stretch to the fabric, which is very useful as you are positioning your baby under it. Third, it is soft and breathable so hopefully as comfortably as a blanket over your head to eat can be!Comfort as a scarf: I personally rarely used my nursing scarf as a scarf (kept in my bag and pulled out as needed), but this one is comfortable as a scarf and looks fairly attractive. Before washing, I did not think the fabric would feel that comfy as a scarf, but after washing it felt like a nice quality t-shirt. It is not the typical scarf material, so don't expect the light/flowing look but it is comfortable.Durability: I haven't had it long enough to say how long it will last, but the seems are nicely done and feel strong, and the fabric is soft yet feels like it will stand up to many, many washings.

Awesome cover!!
Ok – I get it – it’s 2016, and we don’t need to be covered. Still, I feel much more comfortable nursing with a bit of privacy. This scarf and nursing cover is really perfect for my needs. I’m expecting my third child, and this is my third nursing cover. It looks fantastic as a scarf, and has advantages that other nursing covers I’ve used have not had – most notably, that it is designed to wrap all the way around the body. Other covers I have used just drape over, and a squirmy baby will find their way out easily. This cover creates a pouch that holds the baby in. The material is light (by design – it certainly doesn’t feel cheap. Similar to a nice quality t-shirt.) and therefore breathable. It also looks really nice as a scarf. My only complaint is the extremely strong chemical smell that you notice immediately after taking it out of the box. My husband commented on it from across the room. It took two washes to get it out. However, it does not affect the overall quality of the product, so I decided not to deduct a star for it.I received this in exchange for a truthful review. I really think it’s worthy of five stars – it’s a great product!
