After you wring out the mop, lay the blue side down on the floor, the white side will be facing up, place the mop head onto the white side and push lightly. There are strips on the bottom of the mop head that act like velcro, but not as course as velcro. The mop adheres to the mop head quickly, easily and with very little pressure. You get two pads and a dust pad with the mop. I washed the pads in the washing machine, I have not washed the dust pad yet, but it is sturdy and looks like it should not be a problem to wash. The regular pads are sturdy and it depends on how much you mop whether you really need replacements right away.
