Good for some connections, not others. Hard to hold in place while heating. Note Warning below.
Warning: Because it is difficult to hold both pieces of wire steady and straight (especially if your hands tend to shake a bit), I laid down the heat gun on its side on a metal table so I could simultaneously hold trigger and both wires in the connector. The box with the remaining connectors was about 2 feet in front of gun heat while the connectors were a few inches from gun. After successfully putting on first connector, I reached for another and discovered all my connectors had one side with the opening smaller than the other. I realized that despite the distance, just that little heat shrank the opening making inserting one wire difficult. So keep the box FAR AWAY from any heat as it takes nothing to shrink the outer covering.Other than that, the connectors were pretty simple to put in when connecting one wire to another. However, if you have two wires on one side and one on the other (or 2 and 2), the wires fit in the connector but do not cross each other under the solder so the connection will be suspect if the wires are too thick. e.g. I used 2 18G wires connected to 1 18G and that didn't work well in the red connector .An 18G and a 24G on one side and 18G on the other did work.Use copper wire (not copper covered aluminum which is what much of the junk wire seems to be from China these days) or the solder doesn't flow well. That's true of any connection but especially when not using mechanical connection before soldering. Mechanical connection means twisting the wires together before soldering.Note, my "Ease of Use" rating is a 5 for simple connections of one wire at each end but a 2 for more complicated connections or when doing multiple connections of two attached wires (like a lamp cord where both wires are attached and you can't separate them very far) because you have to do both attachments and heating at the same time as it is difficult to keep the already-soldered one far enough away and holding all those wires is a real pain.

Surprisingly useful. Must get very hot to get solder to melt though. Lighter isn't going to cut it.
First time using something like this. I had seen ads for something like this before, but never thought to give it a try. Had a car stereo project and thought I'd give these a try. Very little instruction on how to use these, but basically I just took the two stripped wire ends. Twisted them to make a more solid strand. Made each end into a "j" hook then folded the wire back on itself and slide the connector over so the solder was over the connection. Then fire up a heat gun. I looked to find some guidance on the packaging of how hot to get the connector, but couldn't find anything. Set the heat gun to 790°F and started running the connector back and forth. the ends "heat-shrinked" relatively quickly and made a tight apparently water-tight connection but the solder ring was still there. Took about a minute to get the solder hot enough for it to visibly flow in the connector. By the point the solder was hot enough the plastic/heat-shrink part of the connector was very soft and thin so the wires had to be held tight to make sure the solder joint would cool properly and straight. I had many that cooled at an angle but could be bent straight. They work for small lower voltage connections like a car stereo, but I'd be pretty hesitant to put some serious amps through one of these connections mostly due to the low quantity of solder. But they're quick and easy, and you just need a heat gun. No need to break out the soldering iron.

This is the greatest product ever.
I have struggled so many times in the past to splice wires together. My son broke the light on his e-bike. the connector was busted and I had to connect two very thin wires together. I tried some crimp connectors. They simply didn't hold. I though I would try some smaller crimp connectors. When I went to Amazon, I saw these connectors. They looked too good to be true. I had paid $6.95 for about 6 crimp connectors from Home Depot. I wasted all of them. This kit came with dozens of connectors and according to the instructions, they would work with just a heat gun.I tried the first two wires. I slipped the wires in from each side, used a heat gun and the wires were connected. I had a strong connection and the heat shrinking made the connection waterproof. I tried the second connection. It was so easy. It worked great.About two months ago, I called an electrition to come to my house. One of my outlets was not working. When I took the plate off, I saw that the white copper wire had broken and that what was left of the wire was too short to be connected to the plug. Had I known about this solution, I could have used it to easily extend the wire and saved the cost of calling an electrition out.

Awesome Product
Man I don't know why it took so long for them to come up with something as good as this product. If you can't cite or worth it darn and they're looking for a waterproof connection these are for you. Or if you don't have a solder gun but have a heat gun you just cannot go wrong with these.

where have these been all my life!
splice your wires ,solder, and heat shrink your speaker or electrical wires with a lighter or heat gun.i never tried a blow dryer but it most likely would work as well.practice on some spare wire until you get the hang of it,which isnt very hard.i like to kind of fan both wires out and get them together without over stressing them by twisting to much.i think they call it splay or something,i dont remember.once i got it down the connections are nice and solid i even gave one a nice tug and they stayed together.if your a tinkerer and fix all broken things guy like me these are a must get.

Solder doesn’t melt with low heat
Had to use higher heat to melt the solder which messes up the heat shrink, ended up taping it also. I found a small handheld mini torch to use on them next time.

Great idea, great connection
I’ve wired all my trailer lights with these because the visual conformation of the solder melting, flowing over the two wires, & the waterproof shrink makes new splices easy and verifying existing ones a breeze!
