Simple and versatile audio recorder
I bought a similar recorder from another website; it appears to be identical. I've been using them for several months without problems. It's more versatile than most of the mini "spy" recorders in the same price range. Several functions can be selected from a configuration menu: recording audio level; voice-operated threshold level; number of channels; sampling rate; bitrate; automatic maximum file length (before new file starts automatically). You can also synchronize the recorder's internal clock with your PC, so recorded files will show the actual time they were recorded. Battery charges in about an hour; then 8 hours or more recording time on one charge. To charge, simply connect USB cable to computer for about an hour (while recorder is turned off).To record, do NOT have anything plugged into the 3.5mm jack. Then simply turn switch ON to start recording; turn switch OFF to stop and save recording. Recording quality is pretty good; the mic is internal, sound seems to get in through the hole for the 3.5mm USB/headphone jack.To play, plug in supplied earbuds before turning switch ON. (However, I don't use this device to listen to my recordings, I transfer them to my PC for playback, editing, burning, etc.)To transfer files to PC, connect using supplied USB cable, then turn the device on, and copy files like any other USB flash drive.Storage time depends on what bitrate you select. At 192kbits/second, the recorder holds over 80 hours. At 1,024kbits/second (a better audio quality), the recorder holds over 16 hours. The only "con" is that when the recorder automatically ends one file and starts another one, a few seconds of audio are NOT recorded during the transition. So I always set the "automatic" time to the maximum, 255 minutes (4 hours and 15 minutes). That's longer than any single recording I would make anyway, so it's not a problem for me. Other than that, I haven't found any problems with the design.NOTE: Description says "192Kbps WAV CD QUALITY." That is not correct; 192Kbps is not nearly as good as CD quality. CDs are 1,411Kbps. However, this recorder _can_ be set to different bitrates, some of which _are_ close to CD quality. If you're looking for the ultimate simple audio recorder, give it a try. You can't go wrong for $15.00.
