Lotus sunscreen
This Lotus sunscreen provides decent protection against the sun's harmful rays. It blends well and doesn't leave a white cast, which is a plus. However, I found it to be a bit pricey compared to other options available in the market.Pros:* Good sun protection* Blends well* No white castCons:* ExpensiveOverall:A decent sunscreen but the price point might be a deterrent for some.

Holy Grail sunscreen!
I've always had a love-hate relationship with sunscreen and sunblocks- I never leave home without a layer of sunscreen on my face and hands, but I always hated the oily, slick film left behind by most sunscreen lotions, not to mention the ugly white cast created on the skin by sunscreen. VLCC, Lakme, Biotique-you name it, I'd tried the sunscreen from that brand, only to be disappointed. Enter Lotus Herbals Matte Gel Sunscreen. I ordered this with the utmost trepidation, especially given that my history with "matte" sunscreen had not been a pleasant one, but now, after just two days of using this gel, it's safe to say that I've found my holy grail sunscreen. Yes, it is slightly expensive, but it is totally worth it, and a worthwhile investment for your dermatological health.Pros:a) it's got a thin, watery consistency that simply melts into your skin. You don't need to massage this one until your fingers are sore-just dot your face and neck with the sunscreen, dab slightly, and you're all sortedb) no sheen whatsoever! of course, I can't talk for oily-skinned beauties, but for normal skin, this sunscreen gel leaves behind no shine or sheen on your face. Despite its silky feel, this gel disappears without a trace on your skinc) absorbs in no time at alld) no harmful colours or ingredients- this baby is completely herbal, paraben free and not tested on animals!e) completely noncomedogenic- if your skin is prone to reacting to new products, then this sunscreen ought to be a treat for you. This gel is lightweight, doesn't clog your pores, so you don't have to worry if you don't wash your face before going to bed-this gel won't break you out.f) if you're a regular makeup wearer, this sunscreen is very makeup friendly and sits well; I've read reviews of people using this as a primer too but I haven't personally tried it myselfCons:I don't really have any cons for this product but:a) slightly expensive, but it's always on a good discount on Amazon (I bought it for Rs 275)b) I guess the fragrance could be a little strong for some people- wish Lotus had made this formula fragrance-free, but I personally am not bothered by the fragranceGo for it, guys!

Good in some respects but still not suited for humid conditions
Things I liked about Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50:1) High range of SPF with a SPF 50 protection- Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel offers SPF 50 protection which offers a shield against the harshest of UVA and UVB rays of the sun.2) It gets easily absorbed by the skin, doesn't leave a whitish tinge and gives a matte finish.3) Lightly fragranced. It contains extracts of Horse chestnut, comfrey and vanilla which leave a lingering, pleasing fragrance without offending our nose.4) It is light on the skin and unlike many sunscreens, doesn't leave a thick layer.5) The matte effect can also act as a makeup base. The face instantly brightens and even without applying makeup it gives a great even toned skin effect, hiding the blemishes and irregularities in colour of the skin.6) Only a small quantity is required. A pea sized dollop is enough for the face.7) Gives protection for atleast 2-3 hours.8) Suits all skin types with no allergic reactions.9) Is water resistant. I tried it out during my beach outings and even when my face got wet, it stayed put until I scrubbed it off which is great.10) Protects against tanning, pre-mature aging, skin cancer and sun burn. This sunscreen effectively protected me from tanning and suns burns but you have to re-apply it after 2-3 hours for it to be effective.11) Has an impressive shelf life of three years from the date of manufacture.Things I didn't like about Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50:1) Even with a gel based concoction, Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel sunscreen caused me to sweat after application. So if you have oily skin or combination skin that tends to act as oily in summers like me then this sunscreen may cause you to sweat out. I tested it for my beach outings and non-beach outings and every time, my skin got sweaty and more oily as soon as I applied the sunscreen.2) The orange packing is not very travel friendly because the sunscreen tends to accumulate around the opening of the flip open tube. Also the cap does not close properly. Conclusion:All in all, Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50 is a sunscreen that I will recommend to people with dry or combination skin who are looking for an effective sunscreen with a higher SPF. It failed in the non-oily finish department because my skin did get oily and sweaty. At 410 INR for 100 gm pack, this is slightly expensive but still a worthy sunscreen available among the hordes of other sunscreens in this price range. This review is also available on Njkinny's World of Books & Stuff (NWoBS)

Worst sunscreen - overly fragrant and pills off
This must be the worst personal care product I have bought. The sunscreen has a strong fragrance. But worse is that the product starts pilling after drying. The whole thing rubs off and sheds in ugly white dust. It does not absorb and adhere to the skin. Tried it with a layer of moisturizer underneath, without any other product...but it still pills. Total waste of money and doesn't even serve the purpose.
