A Little Levity, Please.
I've never wrote a product review, but after reading some of the blistering negative ones I felt compelled to provide a little levity. I, too, ordered my kit in the wake of the Japanese earthquake because I've been putting off creating my own and that event was a rude wake-up call for all of us living in SoCal. And I also had to wait over a month to get my kit, which arrived today, due to the overwhelming amount of procrastinators like me who waited to finally create an emergency plan. However, I emailed the company a few days ago to inquire as to the status of my order (it was shown as shipped on March 27th) and received a reply the next day explaining that they and their suppliers have been backlogged with the number of requests. Makes sense. They also apoligized profusely for the delay and explained that their system automatically generates a ship date based on the order time. Under normal circumstances I am sure that everything operates smoothly, but these are not normal circumstances. I sincerely believe the company is doing its best to fulfill the orders--to the extent of even hiring more help, which is a welcome event given the 12% unemployment rate in California. Was I happy that I had to wait a month to get the kit? No. Is it also partially my fault for waiting so long to get one? Yes.Personally, I was impressed with how professionally the company dealt with my request and the contents are exactly what I was needing to protect my family. I would not hesitate to order from them again.

Really well thought out kit. Yes, some of ...
Really well thought out kit. Yes, some of the stuff is a bit janky (like the hand-cranked flashlight from China -- though I tested it and it works... and the "deluxe" duffel bag with crappy zippers, straps, and swivel fittings that is absolutely not up to the job of hauling it anywhere), but it has all of the essentials. The only caveat I'd add is that you shouldn't be thinking you're going to grab this kit and bug out somewhere with it. With the duffel bag it's packed into it weighs 31 lbs. There's a lot of extraneous packaging (stuff in original box, bubble pack, etc.) that you could definitely minimize or eliminate to reduce weight. Most of it is logically separated, but in a pinch you're going to need to dump it out and do an inventory. I'd suggest doing that before you need to and adding an inventory list so you know what you have at hand when you open it up later.

Great emergency kit
I think this is a great emergency kit. I don't really live in an area where natural disasters are likely. I live in the Southern US where three inches of snow that melts in 2 or 3 days is probably the biggest "disaster" I'm likely to face. I don't really live anywhere that earthquakes or hurricanes are likely (as far as I know). So, I really wanted this kit "just in case" something really bizarre happens. The problem is since it is unlikely something bad will happen, I was finding I never took time to put an emergency kit together even though I think having one is a good idea. That's where this kit came in. I read other reviews that said you could get equal or better quality items for the same or less money doing it yourself. That may be true, but I'll never make time to do that. So, this kit gives me the core things I may need in one well packed kit for a decent price with very little time invested.I've looked through the kit and the items seem good quality. Maybe one could do better, but these aren't "bad" by any means.I was very pleased to see the expiration dates were very close to 5 years from when I bought it. So, it's not out of date stuff that's been sitting around for a while. The rest of the gear seems sturdy and useful enough to get one through a tough few days. There is stuff in the pack I wouldn't have even thought of, so that's good.Naturally, this pack isn't really going to get you through a true doomsday event (nuclear war) or anything, but if one is thinking along those terms, that's a whole different conversation. My one downside (and it may seem silly) is the duffel bag is red (at least mine is). I'd prefer something more low key in case I ended up in some kind of emergency shelter (think Katrina super dome). While that's unlikely, if it happened I'd prefer a duffel that didn't scream emergency supplies by being red. Not that big of a deal, though. All in all, a great, well thought out kit that seems to have what one is most likely to need "just in case".

This product comes with zombie ammunition!
I bought this Zombie Apocalypse GO bag, err, the 4 Person Survival Kit Deluxe at the same time as I also bought the survival kit with the bucket you can crap in, and this one has the same issue...those blocks of drywall they're passing off as survival bars...newp...tried'em, hate'em, and will be buying a couple of cases of MRE's to supplement the barf bars that, LOL, we will be saving to throw at the zombies. Surrrrrre, you laugh now...

Must have, one stop emergency kit
I just got my kit. I am very impressed. It's well thought out, nicely organized and even has a little extra room to customize. The first aid kit is perhaps a bit too basic, I'll be working on that, but hey, this provides food, shelter, toileties, a means to cook. . .excellent, and it's pretty small.(small duffel bag). I drive a Smart car and still have plenty of room.I was initially concerned with the price, is it worth it. . .yes, it is.I feel alot better prepared with this kit. I added a life straw for water but it has purification tabs.Hope this helps
