Amazing - for that finishing touch for pasta’s and salads - turns you into a professional !

Although this is marketed for human consumption, I bought it for my two six month old Ragdoll-Maine Coon kittens who need a very protein-rich diet. We originally bought the CatManDo product which they both enjoyed, but this brand is in a league of its own. Although it’s a large bag stuffed full of large flakes (fab value), my spoiled furbabies are already on their third bag and I would hate to run out. They always come running when the bag is brought out and eat it voraciously. I also use the crumbles at the bottom of the bag to mix through wet food the cats might not eat at first or to add extra flavour to biscuits or treats. I don’t particularly like the taste of it myself though, judging by the smell, it is likely to make a delicious dashi.Be prepared for the neighbourhood felines coming to befriend you 😻…

Katsu, egg, whatever veg, some of this, hot water.This is quite weird stuff, like wood shavings. Worth a try if curious.

I'm glad to find katsuobushi (bonito flakes) made in Europe to reduce transport as well as purchasing from this seller, who's value and mission on health I resonate with (check his website for details). The product tastes as good as the Japanese version; salty and umami, which gives the flavour I'm looking for in a few of my meals, like a dashi stock, seared vegetables or a fun topping. Thank you!

I bought this for making dashi and chose this brand because of the low heavy metal content. The flakes are very light but tightly packed so you get a lot in the packet. I used the quantity stated in my recipe and ended up with a very salty tasting dashi so next time I will use fewer flakes or more water. I don’t think I will use the bonito flakes for anything else like a garnish or topping as when I ate a couple of flakes from the packet the texture was papery and they mainly tasted of salt.

Don't like its texture. Too fluffy for me. Neither its flavour is attractive.

Bought these on line as I needed them for a recipe but couldn't find them locally. They are obviously good quality and I have used them in several recipes since. I can't stop eating them out of the bag! They are quite expensive but last for ages.
