Not world-class sound, but it doesn't need to be
Great party trick. This is super convenient if you don't have speakers for any reason - you can get decent volume depending on what you put it on.My favorite part about this is that it really works on just about anything. And it absolutely amazes people the first time they see it. Some of the better things to use are cups, windows, boxes, and even a wall. Sound quality itself is not top-end but you shouldn't expect that from a product like this. The adhesive strips used for attaching the device work very well but need to be replaced, so make sure you get spares. Additionally, the cable connecting the speaker to the main device is only about an inch long or so (I was nervous to pull too hard any potentially damage it), which makes certain surfaces difficult to use.All in all, though, this is some magical tech- use it to impress and entertain people, but don't count on it to do anything else, as it really isn't meant to be anything more.

Novelty Item
I first saw this product on Shark Tank and was immediately interested. One night I was playing beer pong with some friends and we didn't have speakers, so I thought it would be great to have this so we could turn a cup or trash can into a speaker. I ordered it the next day with high hopes. Once I got it I did what anyone else would do and started testing objects to see what things this sounds good on. After the initial WOW factor of seeing how this thing turns almost anything into a speaker I realized several flaws. Most importantly the sound quality on almost anything you attach it to is pretty terrible and the volume it produces is rather unimpressive. Even on large boxes and many things they suggest to attach it to, it just never gets as loud as I would like, the bass barely comes through, and it has a muffled sound. Many objects don't even get louder than just my phone speaker which sucks. On top of that within the first day of use the sticky pad kept falling off objects no matter how many times I cleaned it or changed it. The winding mechanism for the vibrating pad always gets caught no matter how I wind it and is extremely frustrating. For the first two days I thought the length of the cord was only a couple inches until I finally yanked on it hard enough only to discover several more inches, and even after that it still got caught and was difficult to unwind.Overall, I would not recommend the Rock-It 3.0 to anyone. Sure, when you first get it you will be impressed by the technology involved and how it can turn almost anything into a speaker, and your friends will be impressed initially as well, but once the novelty wears off you realize there are way better portable speakers out there. Having a portable speaker is great so I recommend any of the portable speakers they sell on Amazon for even cheaper than this. Many have hundreds of positive reviews. When it comes down to it you want to buy this product to have a portable speaker and why mess around with finding boxes or other objects, sticky pads that fall off, poor sound quality and volume, and a frustrating winding mechanism when you can buy a cheaper rechargeable portable speaker that has better sound quality and volume, fits in your pocket, and doesn't have any of the negatives involved with the Rock-It. Don't waste your money. Buy a different portable speaker and you will not regret it.

Worked and sounded nice........for less than a day.
Nice design and seemed to be of good quality but speaker head separated from wire after only a few uses.My 12 year old was loving this product, hooked to her MP3 player it sounded quite good stuck to anything from a piece of Styrofoam to a hollow core door. Unfortunately after maybe times of pulling out the speaker head the wires pulled out(something I had no way of repairing) and it quit working.Unfortunately the way this product is designed the only way to extend the wire from the main unit to the speaker is to hold the speaker and pull the wire which is spring wound and quite short. The other wire(to hook to your headphone jack) wraps around the unit so it is not exposed to pulling. Now I guess it would be possible(after pulling the wire out a but by the speaker a little bit) to hold onto the wire and pull it out the remaining way but I don't think thats how it was designed. All in all it would have been best to not have to pull on the speaker at all to unwind the wire at all(similar to how the plug end works) but it's the way this product was designed.Another option would be to pull out the speaker wire once and never let it retract, but then you'd have to figure out what to do with the wire as theirs nothing to really wind it around like the plug side has.I returned the product and was given a quick credit(even return shipping, thanks Amazon!) and haven't quite decided if I'll order another one. I would have exchanged it for another right away but apparently thats not a option unless the product was damaged during shipping. It was really cool while it lasted :)Update: I did order a replacement which has been working fine, we are VERY careful when ever pulling on the cord and never pull it out from the head but rather from the cable itself and on that point it's been working ok(although it's not really used much, the novelty has kind of worn off).

Meh
I bought this as a demonstration to my students how sound is nothing more than a mechanical vibration of particles. This worked well for a few tries, but the sticky pad came off easily, and I ended up having to just hold it in place. Also, the cord is VERY short, so you can't have your music source (MP3 player) farther than the other hand your aren't using.
