AstaX Plus Astaxanthin 6 mg Promotes Healthy Aging and Supports Skin Health

It's hard to know when or if supplements are actually working, so i don't know that here either. But they have a weird, chalky undertaste to them. Don't know if i'll be reordering. But it's the only chewable astaxanthin supplement that i know of and i hate swallowing pills.

I was hoping these chewables would be kid friendly or at least pleasant to eat. My son didn’t get past putting the tablet on his tongue. I didn’t especially enjoy the taste; I’d have to compare it to powdered tea.This was the only chewable I could find and, unfortunately, it didn’t serve its purpose for our use.

I take a lot of supplements, and if there are alternative ways to take certain supplements like powders, chewables, liquids, patches, as opposed to swallowing another pill, I'm always interested! This is the first time I've seen astaxanthin in a chewable form so this caught my attention right away. These chewable tablets don't taste bad... they're not delicious but certainly not "yucky" either. :-) I guess they are supposed to be citrus flavored but to me they just taste fruity. They're easy and pleasant to take. These are medium-sized tablets... I am posting a photo next to my fingernail to show it's about the same size.Astaxanthin has so many broad spectrum benefits for our bodies, especially memory, vision, skin, and the immune system. It's said to have 65 times the potency of vitamin C as an antioxidant and it's a very strong anti-inflammatory, and for these reasons it's something I take every day. There is no "ideal" recommended dose for astaxanthin and for me I feel that 6 mg is fine. An article I would recommend about astaxanthin that is very well researched has several examples in it that show that a lower dosage can be still very effective I found here: www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2013/4/Astaxanthin-Provides-Broad-Spectrum-Protection/Page-01. (I love the Life Extension Foundation!). Even if someone wanted to take 12 mg I think this supplement would be affordable. This article explains that astaxanthin is much better utilized if it is paired with a lipid, or "emulsified in a phospholipid" as they describe it, and since this isn't, it's best taken with a high fat meal or snack.When I read more about SunDita at their website I felt even better about taking this! Astaxanthin is what gives salmon its red color. It's a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory carotenoid. These are medium chewable tablets, taken two at a time with a meal once daily. The stated daily dose is only 6 mg, which is only half the daily dose of these comparable softgels:  Astavita Healthy Living Antioxidant with Natural Astaxanthin  The flavor of these chewables is tolerable but not enjoyable - perhaps it's an acquired taste. Some people strongly prefer chewables - for them, this product will certainly work.
